Jets hire Aaron Glenn as Head Coach per Josina Anderson (1 Viewer)

I think it is a blessing that we didn't get him. Defensive coach with no experience as a head coach isn't what we need. I personally with what is left want MM.

I honestly just don’t understand his ascension, the more I think about it.

Usually the defensive coach hires have like TOP ranked defenses. I could be wrong and missed some but I don’t see how a guy whose defenses have ranked where Detroit’s has has gotten so much buzz.

Seems like a lot on this board will get what they want with Glenn off of the board.

I really don't have a favorite candidate - either we hope to get the next Andy Reid or hope we get the next Sean McVay and there's no guarantees either way.

Picking last doesn't mean we can't hire a great coach but it should give the Saints at least a little bit of pause that their top choice wouldn't even come for an in-person interview after being on the staff here not too long ago.

Where was it reported that he was their top choice?

Actions speak so loud. A former staffer who wouldn’t even come for an in person interview. Top target, no thanks. Cool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

All over the internet. I mean, c'mon. Schefter was talking about it before our season was even over. Scroll through the last 10 pages of the board lol.

Pretty much well reported. Even Underhill has reported that he was in the lead pretty much the whole time.
Go back and look or listen to those reports closer. They all said things like "it's expected," "odds are," "makes the most sense," "best fit," and some variation of "someone told me that someone told them that."

I have not personally seen a single report that says anything along the lines of Person A with the Saints, who is directly involved with the hiring process. says Glenn is their top choice by a wide margin. I haven't seen a single report that said anything like that, not even from Underhill.

Underhill's sources turn out to be inaccurate as often as they are accurate. Food for thought, it's also all over the internet that the Earth is flat.

Seems pretty pedantic to parse words in this context when everyone is careful not to overcommit on anything, or doesn't have a direct quote from Loomis, etc, but if it helps, here's Mike Triplett on Nick Underhill's site on November 4:

Aaron Glenn is the clear front runner to me, for a number of reasons. The Lions defensive coordinator was strongly considered as a candidate back when the Saints chose to hire Allen in 2022. He has familiarity and wide respect throughout the building after working on Sean Payton’s staff in New Orleans from 2016-2020. And yet he also feels like he could bring an outside perspective at the same time, coming from one of the most successful franchises in the NFL today that recently underwent the type of extreme refresh that the Saints need.

Anyway, if it will stop the gaslighting, I will amend my statement to say, "it should give the Saints pause that ONE OF their top choices wouldn't even come for an in-person interview after being on the staff here not too long ago."

Now we can hire the person no other team is interested in. Hmm, when did that happen before:sneaky:

Just hire Rizzi, keep Kubiak and get your cap fixed and find some one who can draft good talent.

I wouldn't be upset with McCarthy, but I don't know if he'd want take on a 3 to 5 year rebuild.

Do you have these tweets? Never saw anything on his timeline like this.
On his website today:

Having Aaron Glenn take a job with the Jets without even getting a chance to talk to him is certainly a hit of some degree.

Who knows if the Saints would have hired him or not. He felt like the top choice for this job, the guy who brought that combination of upside and readiness that you aren’t going to find anywhere else. Either way, it looks and feels like a loss, and you don’t want to experience that in your coaching search, but none of it matters in the end if you find a solution and it leads to success.

So, once again, this situation is back at a crossroads.
