Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (11 Viewers)

I get that in a way it kind of gives a bad look for the Saints, but maybe it's best he turned down the opportunity to continue forward. For him, it would not look good if not offered the job. For the Saints best interest, possibly a reason he was not a hot commodity and chased by the other 6 teams with head coach openings.

If we do get McCarthy, as bad a look as it is, Glenn and Brady may have done the Saints a favor by turning them down. I'm not sure either was ready to rebuild this team, but I would have liked to have seen Brady take a shot at it. But, I can see why he would rather wait for an easier job with a better QB situation since if you fail at your first HC job, it's hard to get another shot.
Yeah I'm ok if we get McCarthy. If not then I'm at a loss. I could see a path forward with him. Rizzi with Loomis's view of not being that far off is the definition of disaster. We won't embrace the full on suck but will never be good enough to amount to anything.

Yep. And I don't think Rizzi has the talent evaluation skills to make up for Loomis' deficiencies in that department. So even if you get good draft picks with Rizzi, he will mostly blow them.

Huh, wonder how attractive we will be when we are $60 million in the black in salary cap space in 2026?!?! If you don’t want to endure the bitter, then you don’t get a chance to taste the sweet.

I'm not optimistic about our short term future if we can't get McCarthy, but I'll still be here and I'll still watch every game. But, I will significantly lower my expectations if it is someone other than McCarthy.

Good move for Brady and the Saints, IMO. Vrable was the only possibility I was high on, but there was no competing with NE.

If he was so great why does he keep getting passed by each cycle.

I’ve been saying all along. The guy isn’t who people think he is. He needs a lot more seasoning.

Nobody wants to see that. They just see him as a guy who might be the next thing. I posted before the hiring cycle started after listening to one of the shows on NFL Radio that owners/FOs are tired of striking out on the coordinators that have their heads buried in their play sheets. They projected that it would be more guys with HC experience this cycle. Vrabel, Carroll and more that likely MM prove that point. It's not just teams looking for "the next guy".
