Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (48 Viewers)

I don’t blame him. He can continue to ride with Josh Allen and maybe have better opportunities in the next cycle.

I love the Saints and want the best for the Saints, but I refuse to fool myself. While many here will always search for the positives and discount the negatives, people who are trying to build careers and put themselves in the best situations possible should be careful in the choices they make. Regardless of what we may want to think, our cap, ownership, leadership and roster sitautions are legitimate concerns. Taking the NOLA job today for the sake of the "it's one of only 32 such jobs" argument, might hurt you tomorrow. Personally, I'd rather wait a year and find a more attractive situation. Brady's value will likely grow by staying with Buffalo for another year. Yeah, I know that didn't happen for Slowick, but I don't think Brady has anything to worry about, especially if he can get a Super Bowl appearance and potentially a win, under his belt.

If he accepted the New Orleans job he'd face a year of imense challenges. Right, wrong or indifferent, after next season, people would begin to question his ability (because next season looks to be very difficult), and he'd still face many challenges going in to year #2. At that point the honeymoon will be over. I'd rather wait for a better situation and give myself a chance to have success sooner.

It's getting to the point where I miss the Loomis that I didn't hear from for 20 years of my life..

Loomis has always only been as good as his HC. The problem is that the last HC was terrible and he doesn't have a new one. IF he can get this hire right, and it's looking worse at this point, he's a fine GM in the background taking care of the money and admin stuff. The problem comes when a HC wants to do dumb things and Loomis rubber stamps them like continuing to stretch the cap, paying for Derek Carr, and trading up for Davenport.

Loomis at 68 should have retired or been removed by Gayle. They’re hurting the organization, and it’s selfish on Mickey’s part and weak on Gayle’s part, but it is what it is. We have to hope we can still good a good HC who will be able to evaluate talent—in the draft, on the team, and in free agency—and rebuild to something good again.

Well, at least McCarthy is still interested. But, I do find it odd that they aren't going to interview him until after they interview Moore. I wonder what the reasoning is for that?

And as much as I think that McCarthy is the best choice at this point to rebuild the roster, maybe Moore is a better option than I think? Or maybe Moore is a good option if the coaching search has made Loomis realize he has to tear it all down and start over with a younger roster and a young QB?

The interview with McCarthy is just a formality. They already know what they are getting with him. There's not really a reason to interview him if any of the other guys hit the ball out of the park. If they get to McCarthy's interview, he's the next HC.

He can stop doing the weekly show on WWL, too

If that's true, then I don't know why they would bother interviewing Moore or trying to interview Brady.

Nick’s agenda can no longer be hidden.

No agenda, he's just telling the truth. Some people in the fanbase are just so deeply in denial that they refuse to take the obvious at face value. This is not an attractive job. Not from a talent standpoint, cap standpoint, front office, etc.

Meh? So a guy sees a job and thinks it’s too much for him and he bows out. So what?

If he just thinks it’s FUBAR and he can’t fix it then he’s probably right. He’s not the right guy for the job and has a failure of vision.

Plenty of very good coaches took on reclamation projects and turned everything around. Payton did for example.

Give me a guy who does want to be here warts and all and thinks that they can right the ship.

I think it's mostly about the QB position, but the cap and aging roster are also factors.
