Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search (38 Viewers)

No agenda, he's just telling the truth. Some people in the fanbase are just so deeply in denial that they refuse to take the obvious at face value. This is not an attractive job. Not from a talent standpoint, cap standpoint, front office, etc.
It’s not truth. He’s being dramatic bc of agenda. Glenn chose jets and Brady passed for any number of valid reasons. Non of our cap issues are breaking news.

And like clockwork this is being spun as being as bad as possible.
And yet, I think this is a good thing. I dont think Brady is ready.
If that's true, then I don't know why they would bother interviewing Moore or trying to interview Brady.
Because you don't necessarily know what those other guys offer. One of them could surprise you.

Mickey will continue to double down and try to prove his point. He is interviewing, not recruiting. He has to interview more than 1 person to legitimize that argument. I think fans are finally seeing through Mickey. He can continue with his charade, but not everyone is going along.

I guess it depends on the level of talent you are interviewing. Kafka, Weaver and Rizzi are long shots. These are the kind of guys who see the 1 in 32 chance as too good to pass up, because they may never get another NFL HC offer. I say that while saying that I like Kafka at the same time. I've championed him for the last handful of years. But he's a dart throw. I'm not saying he's the right guy. His past just kind of reminds me of Sean and that worked out pretty well last time.

I'd wager the reason these guys are passing is because they all want someone else to be the "fall guy" for the Saints cap sins and aging roster. Once the Saints clear the cap and the new HC doesn't have a tier 3 at best QB with a tier 1 cap hit, I bet they'd all love to work for a franchise with a GM who does whatever is needed to sign the guys the Head Coach wants and an Owner who just wants to sign checks and smile for charities.

The fact Underhill had this article ready to go for this moment says a lot.
Said the same thing. That article was already to post.

Or be could be Bobby Slowik next year….
Brady has demonstrated (to himself if no one else) that (a) it's more acceptable to be a young OC and get fired quickly than (b) be a young head coach and get fired quickly.

Additionally -- Stroud will likely be fine going forward, but Josh Allen has already gone through his growing pains as a starting NFL QB. That makes Brady's role in Buffalo more secure. Brady's got a lot of smooth runway still.

...

I haven't read anything in depth on Slowik's firing. Do insiders think it was just the (very banged-up) offense taking a step back in Stroud's second season, and no other factor? Or was something else potentially going on (e.g. personality conflicts, differences on scheme, etc.)?

Because he's been a special teams coach for years and has no experience with the process and no track record. I guess he could be some savant that is just somehow is great at it, but it seems very unlikely given that lack of experience and him being focused on special teams.

I don't think that's true. He definitely has input on the bottom of the roster guys that play special teams. But that's from a special teams perspective, not necessarily an offense or defense perspective.

I'm actually more worried about Ireland and the scouting department. Not sure why nobody talks about that. DA gets all the hate for bad drafts, but how much of that goes to Jeff Ireland? He has a hand in that too, right?

Just remember podcasts and pay sites are a business. A struggling team with a crummy record does not sell subscriptions or gather likes. The offseason is a critical time for analysts to make money. Sensationalism is an effective way to garner clicks. Taking a positive approach this offseason is not going to attract many new subscribers. I’m not mad at them for trying to earn a living.

the funny part is that you can be the least attractive job and still get lucky with whoever you do hire.

The issue isn’t so much whether we can hire a particular coach it’s whether the front office is even absorbing the message being sent by the all these candidates.
