Jonathan Vilma Arrested - Confirmed (1 Viewer)

Every sinners been a Saint an every Saints had a past ! How many people have done something they didn't get caught for or arrested and taken through thre ringer with the media ?

mistakes yes!!!, but when your driving reckless and almost run over pedestrians thats not a mistake. yes you loose respect in my eyes and the eyes of a lot of people when you have so little concern for the lives of other people.
thats not stupid.... its stupid to say its a mistake..... and to condone it, its stupid to put innocent peoples life in jeopardy...

dont you think its reasonable to loose respect for someone that drives like a idiot and puts innocent peoples lives at risk...

Right , because what else could it be ? The cops are never ever overzealous , and certainly the media would never overstate , Right ?
Clearly Vilma is in the wrong here , but it's unclear , at this point , just how wrong .

Yeah, I'm sure you've never done anything that potentially put innocent lives at risk, like say, not pay attention while driving and almost cause a wreck or run a red light or speed or change lanes without signaling :jpshakehead: I'm sure Vilma was staring down those pedestrians hoping for a chance to slam into them with his Land Rover.

You are a God among men. Continue casting your stones, oh perfect specimen of the human race.

You forgot resisting arrest. That characterizes the whole incident right there.

so let me get this rigth .... j.v. is driving recklessly through traffic, almost hits two people and the police are overzealous.....

I don'tknow if anyone brought this up didn't read whole thread. Didn't Ricky Jackson get arrested when he went out partying and wrapped his vette around a tree off airline hwy? Then played on Sunday with a broken jaw. No one seemed to get up about his actions.

I remember this. Had Goodell been the Commisioner then, things may have turned out differently for Ricky...and not for the better. With all of the mess with the Starcaps situation, I wouldn't be surprised if he suspends Vilma...just to stick it to the Saints because of three players fighting their suspensions...making him and the league look like idiots. IMO

Before I get flamed, I am not condoning what Vilma did. He screwed up.

You saw this ? Because I'm sure you're aware that a wide range of situations could end up with that description , depending on who's describing . "almost hits two people" could be as innocuous as two people were waiting at a crosswalk that he drove through , or it could be a real live brush with death . What I'm saying is "I don't know." You don't either . Not that one could tell that from your sanctimonious tone and condescending attitude , but you , in fact , do not know .

thank you for finally recognizing me and my deity type qualities.

but two answer you question i have never zig zagged through traffic and nearly ran over people.
the simple fact is he was driving very irresponsible almost injured or cost the lives of people and for that he has lost some of the respect people have for him. v.p.Cheney accidently shot someone a few years ago... he was careless and it was a hunting accident... did he do it on purpose, no. however he lost some of the respect he had earned do to carelessness. the same holds true here.

You still had respect for Cheney by then? Wow.

I like how you equate shooting someone to almost maybe hurting someone. I never asked if you had zig-zagged through traffic and almost ran over anyone. But if you're going to sit here and tell me you never took your eyes off the road and almost caused a wreck, you're a liar. Or you are in fact a god and we should worship you. But if this were true, then why haven't you granted us a Super Bowl??

Resisting arrest can mean a million different things as I'm sure Donte Stallworth could tell you. It's too easy to trump up that charge. If a cop tells you to hang up your cell an you don't, resisting arrest. Does that not seem odd to you? "Resisting arrest" should be a charge only when you...resist...arrest. Vilma wasn't being arrested at the time he was non-compliant. They should have 2 separate charges, one for those who fight an attempt of arrest and one for those who are non-compliant.

I'm not saying Vilma is innocent, but most of us on this board have done something just as bad if not worse than what he has. This is nothing to lose all respect for anyone over. I mean, who hasn't dropped their cell phone or iPod or or whatever under the seat and tried to pick it up while driving? Who hasn't weaved in and out of traffic in a hurry? Who hasn't run a red light?

The only problem with Vilma I have is his non-compliance with the cop because it's a lose-lose situation. Whether the cop is right or wrong, you can't win at that point because they are the law. But everything else I've seen people do 800 times on my way to work everyday.

well you can defend him all you want to..... his actions were wrong and reckless. i really hope you understand that and do not think its ok to drive or act like he did.....

Everyone keeps conveniently ignoring the resisting arrest charge.

Traffic violation? No big deal.

Almost hitting people and resisting arrest? Big deal.

When did I say it was okay? I said it was stupid to lose respect over a mistake that most of us have done to one degree or another. I never said he wasn't being reckless but you're a liar if you tell me you've never done anything reckless that potentially endangered the lives of someone else. If you lose respect for everyone who has ever done anything reckless, then I guess you lack respect for every single person to ever walk this earth. See how insane that sounds?
