Jonathan Vilma Arrested - Confirmed (1 Viewer)

The thing is, you WILL NOT win an argument with a cop. If he says get out of the car, that is exactly what you have to do or you will be arrested. If the cop is wrong, you hire an attorney and file charges. At the time of the traffic stop you really have no options. I am not saying the cop is correct but refusing an order from an officer in the conduct of his duties is never the answer. I hope Vilma is not in the wrong, but it sure doesnt sound good. I hope it works out for Vilma, he seems like a good person.

Very true, but your attitude and perception about such a thing sometimes comes with age and maturity. I still make a fuss for having to spend $5 for a soda at some event to the people selling it, even though they are only doing their jobs and have no control over the price. You learn to accept such things as you get older (I don't buy drinks/snacks at venues like theaters or superdome) but I can't fault Vilma for being incredulous at what the officer wanted him to do. Im not justifying it, just saying "I can see why he would cork an attitude with a cop". Ive done so in the past, gone to court twice, and won both times-- with a BIG smile on my face. Did I do it the hard way-- yes, but when you are young, the hard way sometimes is the only way and only experience will teach you different.

What??? All you have to do is look at the Steve Smith slugging-a-teammate posts and saying how bad of a guy he is. All it was was a freakin fight yet people made a mountain out of a molehill there and saying how he's a bad character guy. It's silly.

Steve smith has had a history of fights and altercations and being a thug. This is just a one-time minor offense for vilma. If it escalates and he gets a dui or dwi then it will be a problem but thats not the case. People get arrested for these things all the time, its nothing new. Its a minor offense.

Your characterization of folks here was silly.

This might not be real minor in the end, if they stick a "resisting arrest" charge on him. But I guess it's better for this to happen in January than late August....

Seeing as Vilma went to Miami, it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't the highest guy on the character list. That being said he seems fine and I think everyone hear has been in a hurry once or twice and not gotten cited for it. Bad luck and probably a lack of trust in the Police force contributed to this one. Personally I think this "moral high ground" thing people seem to take when regarding athletes is a bit hypocritical to say the least.

i dont see what the fuss is about. he didnt enter rae carruth territory or anything of that nature. he did something a little foolish, nothing to get really upset about.

If you all heard that Pacman or TO had a DUI, almost hit some pedestrians, and resisted arrest you'd be having a fit. I still like Vilma, and I hope he stays with us, but a DUI (if it is one) is more serious than you're all playing it up to be. He's a great player, but if he is driving drunk, I've lost all respect for him.

See, this is why Williams was brought in, he's barely even talked to the team and at least one of our linebackers is already more aggressive.

Free Vilma!!!

Right, because people here are always reasonable on here when it comes to NFL players making the news for altercations. Got it.
