There was substantial discussion about how much the state affected Jackson's decision making process. Some certainly approached the topic in a way that didn't account for state influence. That said, the cities still are responsible for what they're responsible for. Despite the state influences, cities still have to own up to the policies that aren't working for them.I’ll take that bet - I think bclemms thread about Jackson is strong evidence that many don’t apply context when assessing city policies
My last bit of pedantry for the morning on this topicThere was substantial discussion about how much the state affected Jackson's decision making process. Despite the state influences, cities still have to own up to the policies that aren't working for them.
Clearly, none of these things exist in a vacuum and it takes some objective assessing to determine cause and effect of policies, but when official is making questionable decisions, it's not too hard to say that the state didn't make them do that.
Well I can't speak for anyone else, but there is no agenda on my part. This is strictly about the love of my hometown and how her administration is destroying its already damaged image. And to reiterate for the manyth time - I’m not stanning for her in any wayshapeform- she’s bad news
But singling her in a city that is not the worst city but in a state that is the worst state while not acknowledging that many/most city problems are state problems
Well that smells oddly of agenda
I agree with everything you said, and might I add, this is a brave take in today’s society. To not only call out a female, but a minority at that…buddy get ready for hell fire and brimstone to be cast on you from those who oppose your take.Well I can't speak for anyone else, but there is no agenda on my part. I once considered Ray Nagin a close friend. We attended church together and many of us at church tried to talk him out of running for mayor. We still supported him until he got entrenched on the wrong side of things. I wish he could've been recalled as well for the shadow he cast on the city. But the feds got him and I hope they get Cantrell and her ilk too.

You know what's coming next right?banal
It shouldn't be that way though. If a mayor, regardless who they are, misbehaves or is derelict in their duties, they should be criticized. It's always been that way and should always be that way. Comes with the territory.I agree with everything you said, and might I add, this is a brave take in today’s society. To not only call out a female, but a minority at that…buddy get ready for hell fire and brimstone to be cast on you from those who oppose your take.
wait, are you offering that all politicians used to be criticized equally regardless of race, gender, sexuality or creed? It's always been that way and should always be that way.
That's not what I said. I said how it should be. History is a different subject.wait, are you offering that all politicians used to be criticized equally regardless of race, gender, sexuality or creed?
tbcThat's not what I said. I said how it should be. History is a different subject.
Edited post to address that.tbc
Your sentence is ‘it always should have been that way and still should be?’
I agree with everything you said, and might I add, this is a brave take in today’s society. To not only call out a female, but a minority at that…buddy get ready for hell fire and brimstone to be cast on you from those who oppose your take.
It’s spelled bananas.banal
It has only been said by the Mayor herself.I havent read it all, has that happened in this 62 page thread?
