Karate Kid Sequel (1 Viewer)

It's a wonder you've been divorced 3 times George...

haha. That whole board meeting is hilarious.

I guess all there is to bring back at this point is Mike Barnes, Hillary Swank, and CGI Pat Morita. Any bets now on which, if any, we'll see?

I feel like Barnes is a certainty. Silver even references bringing in an old friend to help with the expansion of something to that effect. Swank, maybe, but no one really cares about that movie. For as much as Karate Kid III was the black sheep of the originals it still had its fans and was part of the original trilogy. Nobody really cares about The Next Karate Kid and it's pretty disconnected from everything else.

I could see them bringing in Swank for just a cameo, maybe Daniel talking to her at Miyagi's grave or something like that to give Daniel some kind of Miyagi wisdom...

Although I though for sure when he was at Miyagi's grave at the end that when Daniel looked over it was gonna be Miyagi's ghost...lol glad it wasn't tho...

Do we know who that guy was, though?

I got some bad news for ya, Will Smith and Jada's brother are executive producers of the show. 😨

That's just a weird contractual obligation thing due to them doing the remake. They're not really involved in production. Execuitve Producer credits are often just contractual formalities or emeritus style shout outs. Like Stan Lee was an EP on MCU films until he died but he wasn't actually doing anything to make them aside from cameos.

They've already said during media rounds the past few weeks don't expect any Jaden Smith or Jackie Chan because it isn't the same continuity.

That's would be a huge relief because I cringe each time when I see their names in the credits.

It’s a little different than the Stan Lee position because Will Smith actually owns the rights to The Karate Kid. He bought them through his production company, I think it’s called Overbrook, to make that horrific remake. So they can’t make anything Karate Kid related without his permission and cutting him a check.
