Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting Moore again after Super Bowl, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling staff (96 Viewers)

I think you live in a world that thinks teams expect UDFAs that were picked up midseason to contribute right away. Sean saw enough potential to bring him in. AT wasn't polished, but he showed a lot more potential on the field when given the opportunity for the Saints than Cedrick Wilson ever did. The fact is that we haven't developed a player of any note since Sean left. And when your team isn't good, that's something you have to do. They gave up on him prematurely considering the lack of production of who was in front of him.
I'd say we developed Shaheed pretty well after Payton left.

The optics say PC and Vitt went there to retire, basically. And as for Perry, it's up to him to take advantage of his physical tools. At this moment in time, he's just another Tre-Quan Smith.

That's not fair to TQS. He was a far better player that Perry. He just never lived up to expectations and that was mostly due to injuries.

Perrry was not an UDFA. He was a 6th round pick. And he could not learn the offense and ran wrong routes. When a guy gets cut from a team that basically has no decent WRs on the roster and is not claimed on waivers, that tells you what the rest of the NFL thinks of them. And Sean only put Perry on his practice squad despite a bad group of WRs in Denver.

And, as great of a coach as Payton is, he loved to keep tall project WRs on the roster or on his PS for years that never really developed into much of anything. The list is very long. He still won't let go of his dreams for Humphries.

I just think the only point in hiring Rizzi would be to completely gut the roster, clear the cap and fire him after 1 year and choose a new coach next yr. If you like a guy this cycle (they do in Moore) then you just hire him and let him build/handle the roster the way he wants.

IMO a 36 year old LB, who's likely not here in 2 years, shouldn't be picking the HC.
you guys and me too can be too critical of the players. He’s not picking the head coach, he’s reminding people that there is already a strong winning culture. He said that even in the tough times, the leaders were leading and no one was blaming one another. I think this culture should be protected and preserved. Instead of gutting the team. Rizzi could do that. But we know it’s not going to happen.

I’m not sure how “on the cusp” we really are, but if we do have some injury breaks go our way, even with a limited roster, the culture is strong enough to succeed.

If Sean really believed in Perry he wouldn't have had him sitting on the PS where any team could take him. I will never get the fascination with AT Perry. He made some splash plays but he was never consistently good and he couldn't learn the playbook. He's not a good route runner and his only real skills are the ability to find spots in zones in multi-WR sets. If a team mans him up, he's toast because he runs bad routes and often runs the wrong routes. And he's only decent at contested catches because he's tall. He's not particularly strong.
That’s why he’s on the PS. He’ll be good in time

He won't say it out loud, but that is what we are doing; I do not believe he thinks the team is as bad as a team that needs to rebuild, which suggests he still believes in some of the players on the team and that more talent needs to be introduced to the current roster.

It's cool, I would call it a restart but just another similarity when we got that other young offensive minded coach a few years back.....(it was a few years....right?).....

if we don't have taysom hill this year, we might as well punt the entire dang year. punt is a metaphorical term for suck and rebuild.

I sure hope this next coaching staff isn't taking the incredibly risky, nonsensical approach of designing an offense that is way too dependent on a mid 30's runner staying healthy.....because that is lunacy....

If he's around cool, use him but have a backup plan....

Right but Sean sees the potential and he believes in At. As do I. TQS was a blocking Wr. ATP flashed at catching 50/50 balls.

Yup, I wouldn't be surprised to see AT break out a bit in Denver, the coaching staff is far superior to what he had in his 1st stop.....I could also see him getting cut if he doesn't improve....

Yea I can’t predict if AT is going to mature. But like I’ve said, the guy has a valuable asset to work with, and it’s that he shows up under the lights

My mistake, I thought he was an UDFA. And I do keep hearing he can't learn the offense and ran wrong routes, but it's never been attributed to anyone. All I've seen is that he can play when he get's on the field. He only got 18 targets and caught 12 of them for 4 TDs in 2023, then led the league in receiving yards in the 2024 preseason and never saw the field again. I think he was in the doghouse the same way Kendre Miller was and at the time he was released he had shown more on the field for the Saints than Mason Tipton and Cedrid Wilson had.

Now, I'm not going to die on the AT Perry hill. He's not going to be the next Colston or anything. But I feel like he got a raw deal here and after seeing how some other players have walked out the door to great success I will continue to wonder what could have been with some extra coaching and patience.

So when will the coaching hire be announced? Will it be 5 minutes after the game has completed or the next day? If the Eagles lose, I hope it's 5 minutes. If they win, then give him a day to celebrate.
It will take a day or two after the SB. They’re not going to meet with him until the next day at the earliest win or lose.
