Speculation Lattimore - Possible Trade Partners Now That June 2nd Has Passed (3 Viewers)

You may be right as the article you've provided is by Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report and dated July 7th, 2024. To your point, that's a made-up trade idea.

However, the You Tube Video by News Express - The Saints Report - orator states that "Justin Panadero from Bleacher Report has suggested that the Vikings might be looking to acquire New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore." Could there be substance coming from a second voice possibly hearing it elsewhere or could it merely be a colleague regurgitating something and growing artificial legs underneath it? Probably the latter. Either way, the door won't be shut on the subject this year at least until November 5th, 2024.

As far as I can tell, there is no Justin Panadero who writes for Bleacher Report.

You may have missed the part where there is a source to the trade rumor and it's less than 2 hours old. 🙄

Do you look into what you're trying to shove down peoples throats, or are you just scratching and clawing for anything that'll fit this infatuation of yours?

Source to trade rumor? Let me give you a little help. Dustin Panadero of Bleacher Report is not a real person. Doesn't exist.

What they're attempting to cite is this Bleacher Report article where someone named Ryan Fowler gives 4 trade ideas that he thinks make sense, with Lattimore to the Vikings being one of them. There are zero sources. Zero new rumors. He's speculating based on old trade rumors from several months ago paired with the Vikings need for a cornerback and their cap space.

Zero sources. Only speculation.

Good day, sir.

There is no Justin or Dustin Panadero, man. Sorry.

That "The Saints Report" podcast is click bait. I don't link to it in the Podcast & Videos that I post here, and I had YouTube get them to stop using our SR logo. That really ticked me off!
Actually, there are three AI Saints news podcasts and I don't link to any of them. All three are clickbait!

We have a very good poker hand in this case. We can go into 24 with a super loaded CB room. If we are competitive by mid season, we hang on to all of them for depth. If we hit the skids, get what you can from a contender. MLB teams have mastered this.

Normally, I’m not impressed with historical arguments like “The last time the Saints drafted a WR from X University, he was awful—therefore don’t draft any more WRs from X University. “ But I’m leery of any trades from this front office. They draft well and are masters of the salary cap. Trades? Not so much.

Nobody is shoving anything downs anyone's throat, but your tone is pushing the envelope here. You've read me wrong if you think I'm infatuated with "this".

It's not my job to do a deep dive journalistic approach when simply posting an article or video that's on the internet for all to see. However, to maintain my integrity as a member posting on SSF, an internet forum for open discussion as it is, I usually state if I am certain that it is factual information, or, possibly mere speculation, or worse, just clickbait. Factual information can't be refuted. Opinions, speculation, and rumors, whether true or unfounded, are up for debate. It's up to the reader to be willing to accept the facts when presented and proven as such, and it's up to the reader to decipher the rest for what it may be. Agree or not.

Along with the videos I posted earlier today I accompanied both with some statements that may have gotten past you while reading my posts.

Some of which are:

From My 1st Post Today, 1st Video - It's merely speculation at this point

From My 1st Post Today, 2nd Video - This video leans heavily on speculation without citing any source of rumors.

From My 1st Post Today, Generalization - We're in the dog days of summer with just over 2 weeks remaining before Saints training camp opens. There's not much going on with player movement right now. In the meantime, sports outlets try to find a nugget here and there and in some case manufacture news with mere speculation which serves as clickbait for their platform to those starving for information.

From My 2nd Post Today, Reply - You may be right as the article you've provided is by Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report and dated July 7th, 2024. To your point, that's a made-up trade idea.

With all due respect, and that information coming from you, I will no longer post anything from that site again.

AI already starting trouble.

Just to be clear... I'm not telling you that you cannot posts links to them. That's your prerogative. I'm just offering my opinion on those podcasts... and venting a bit. :)

Good Day To You As Well.

You left this one out:

You may have missed the part where there is a source to the trade rumor and it's less than 2 hours old. 🙄

This is you saying the video has a source to the trade rumor. It took me all of 120 seconds to find out that there was no source and that it was based off a speculation piece after watching not even 30 seconds of the clip. The name your video cited isn't even a real person.

If you're going to dig up a buried thread, at least see if there's an ounce of credibility to what you're posting first maybe?

Who appointed you to the Posting Police Department here?

Congratulations on your speedy conclusion to determine it was based off of speculation Columbo.

In your haste to solve the case you stumbled over the first clue.

The word Speculation is highlighted as a pre-fix in the Thread Topic Header.

This entire thread is based off of speculation.
Who knew?

Speculation: The forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence.

Although the flames have simmered on this topic since Lattimore showed up for mini camp practices, the embers still smolder.

Here's another speculation piece by Bleacher Report, published on July 11th, 2024, written by Alex Ballentine - Excerpts:

7 Bold Predictions for 2024 NFL Training Camp

The dawn of NFL training camp marks the last trade window before the regular season.

The chance for a coaching staff to see what everything looks like with pads on can be the impetus for pulling the trigger on a trade they may have avoided.

When the Saints see what the secondary would look like with Paulson Adebo and Kool-Aid McKinstry as their starting outside cornerbacks, they might be willing to see what they can get for Marshon Lattimore.

The 2017 first-round pick has been a good player for the Saints when healthy. But he's 28 years old and has played in just 17 games over the last two seasons.

As the Saints look to retool while constantly facing a salary-cap space deficit every offseason, they need to evaluate who they are willing to pay.

The Saints' choice to restructure Lattimore's contract in January might have provided a sneak peek into their plan for him.

Rather than convert his salary into a traditional bonus that would have spread out the money, they gave him an option bonus that won't officially kick in until the week before the regular season.

That means that any team that trades for him before then would be on the hook for the bonus. That's an unusual detail that could signal the Saints have been thinking about a trade for a while.

Their selection of McKinstry in the 2024 draft deepens that speculation. If that's been the plan all along, then they are running out of time.

Multiple teams with cap space should be interested in Lattimore, including the 49ers, Packers and Vikings.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I don't agree that the dawn of training camp marks the last trade window before the regular season. Of course, that would be the ideal time, for both player and team in order for player to get time to gel with new coaches, teammates and system. The author clearly states that the restructured contract has an option bonus due Lattimore that kicks in the week before the regular season. So, effectively, anytime between now and then would make the most financial sense for the Saints to deal Lattimore, if they were to do so this year. However, the trade deadline this year isn't until the Tuesday after Week 9 games, which is November 5th, 2024.

The Saints are actually in a good position at this point. The team and the player have put their differences in the past for now. The Saints currently are healthy at the CB position, some may consider them stacked, with at least 4 talented players under contract on the roster. That's today, for now. Anything could happen to change that between now and the trade deadline. Of course, the unforeseen injury bug could bite. Forgive me for saying it. There's also the thought of how the season is going to that point. If the team is doing well, they may want to keep that position one of strength. If the team is not doing well, they may then choose to move a player.

If so, the question is which player. It's doubtful that the Saints will commit the resources to retain both Lattimore and Adebo beyond 2024. If the younger corners under contract, Taylor and McKinstry, perform well throughout training camp and preseason, the Saints may choose to trade either Lattimore or Adebo. The jury is still out on this and will remain so until either something of the like stated above happens, or the trade deadline comes and passes without a move being made.

And even while some in the media have suggested this is a dead subject, you best believe the flames will begin to glow again between now and the trade deadline.
