Lego building as a hobby (1 Viewer)

Yeah, great point. I've heard rumblings of all of the Star Wars sets, big and small are retiring next year. I have close to enough American Express points plus Lego insider points to cover most of the MF set. I might pull the trigger this summer. I don't expect there will be any discounts on those high end sets. I really wish I had gotten the Razor Crest when it was under $400 when on sale last November. Grrr.

I'm actually tempted to buy something right now because Lego has a 2x points offer going until the 24th. I know they do those a few times a year.
Same here. I want the Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter but it’s not out until Feb 1st.

I think my next project is gonna be the Falcon. Just a matter of time. Thinking about how to display it, and I think this would look great in my living room.

Is that an actual Lego store or some thing else like Target?
Seems like some random toy store. Not sure where tho. I know some sets will show up on shelves early in like Walmart or Target, but if you try to take it to check out to pay for it, they'll say you can't buy it yet. Really, they're not supposed to display them, but I don't think the workers care, lol.

I know you can pre-order them on the Lego site, but that's different. I've actually heard of people getting their sets early from Lego when pre-ordering.

I ordered the Sanctum Sanctorum yesterday, and didn't really care about it being on backorder because I wanted to get one as soon as they had more. But I got over 3k points and a GWP with it, so I can't complain too much. I kinda hope they send it early tho, heh.

Actually, Lego isn't allowing pre-orders on this kit. At least not yet. You can pre-order on Amazon or Target.com but you won't get VIP points.

Ah, that makes sense. I saw someone claiming they pre-ordered months ago and I assumed they meant on the Lego site.

So, I spent the last few days building the Sanctum. Pretty fun set. Some clever little features and definitely reminds me of the movie. Got a little village going. 3 modulars, Avengers Tower and now Sanctum. Next is either the Daily Bugle or the Falcon. I really need to save for the Falcon first. I don't want to get in a spot where I'm scrambling to get it before it gets retired at the end of the year.

I hope you have a large, extra room available because you're gonna have it filled soon. You won't have a Lego village, but a full Lego city.

Well, that's the plan, lol. That said, Christmas season is over and although my birthday is coming up in a few weeks, I'm gonna wait on the Falcon before buying anything else.

I actually nearly bought a Fire Brigade set, which is retired and runs about $600-700 new. I saw a used, complete set for sale under $400 and nearly bought that, but decided I need to wait and save on the Falcon first. There's always old sets for sale and I've had a good experience with one and a meh experience with the second. The Assembly Square one was a used set and sold to me as complete, but after building it, there were a total of 40 pieces missing. Been waiting several days to get the missing pieces from the seller.

I'm really enjoying the builds and I'm pretty much hooked, lol. I just wish I had a but more disposable income so I can continue adding on more modulars. There are a total of 19 modular sets as far as I know. That doesn't include the Avengers Tower and Sanctum even tho they're compatible with the modulars. Not sure I'll ever buy all of them, but I'm thinking maybe half of those would be nice enough. But I'll need a dedicated room to accommodate much more than what I already have.

What's wrong with that? Looks like a cool set. Did price change or something?
i already own it, but i can't find it. oh yes, it was $70ish when released. it was discontinued a few years back.
