Lets build the worst Saints team ever! (1 Viewer)

So, Jean-Baptiste, a R2 pick who couldn’t get on the the field and was cut after 1 tackle in 1 season (4 games) wasn’t worse than Browner, who started 16 games with 76 tackles and 10 PBU?
We would’ve been better playing a 10-man scheme on defense that year than starting Brandon Browner. I’m 1000% serious. He was historically awful. Most penalized player in NFL history for a single season (by a lot). Yes, I’d play SJB over him.

right, but at the same time, take Brady from BB and i am pretty sure none remembers BB. Brady went on to win the SB and make the playoffs 3 times with another team. i have no doubt Brady made BB.

The first few years, that Patriots team was loaded, and Brady was good, but no one was predicting HoF for him. Without Brady, Belichick probably wins 2 SBs early 2000's, but obviously Belichick doesn't go on the 20 year run he went on without Brady (and the refs, and the worst division in football 20 years running :hihi: )

Out of those two? It’s Carl Smith - no contest. PC coordinated for some of best offenses in NFL history.
Danny Anramocicz was a worse OC than both of them. And yes Carl Smith was terrible. How he gets compared to Pete is a head scratcher.

Even still. He was part of the braintrust of a historic offensive juggernaut. You’re portraying him as nothing more than a mere clipboard-holder. Even his worst years (the last three - one under the Great Sean Payton, if you remember) were middle-of-the-pack in the NFL.

Compared to the rest of OCs in Saints history? Come on.
I am portraying him as nothing more than a clip holder because I don't think he was anything other than a clip holder those years. The offense, the system, the plays, they were Payton's. I don't think you can judge PC as an OC during Payton's tenure when he really was OC in title only.

I think both Payton and Brees would have quite a bit to say about this.

Even if you ignore the Brees era. Once again, the last three years the Saints offense has been middle-of-the pack. The first of those years (2021) was with Sean Payton at the helm. And the 2022 and 2023 actually improved in significant categories (yards per game, points per game, 3rd down % among them) from Payton's lone season without Brees.

I'm just going to say it. It's absurd to suggest PC is the worst Saints OC of all-time. He doesn't even belong in this conversation. You should just concede this point and get on with your day.

DC Steve Spagnuola or Rob Ryan (can't decide)
Rob Ryan had a pretty good first year here (4th in both yards and scoring defense)

Definitely I'd put him above Spags, and also Rick Venturi, who didn't field a decent defense for a single year. Also Yaralian, DC during the Ditka years (same story). Probably also above Gary Gibbs. the 2006 run was magical but the defense was actually only so-so

I'm definitely not going to argue about Abramowicz. You might be right that he just might be the worst of our 50+ year history. The only thing that gives me pause is just how atrocious of a roster he had to work with. But yeah, adding Carmichael's name to this conversation is just ridiculous.

Abramowicz was OC during the Ditka years, and had Shuler, the Billy Joes, Wuerffel, and a drunkard (Collins) to work with.

As for Smith vs PC, what's worse? An OC running his offense, who's not successful because he doesn't have the talent? Or an OC who doesn't succeed when he has talent and a ready-made system available to him?

That's the problem. The Saints' offense, with the personnel they have, should not be middle of the pack.

I went with a 3-4 instead of a 4-3 since our most famous Ds have been 3-4 and for the lines i just went with OL and DL without regard for specific position:

QB: Karl Seeetan 1968
RB: Jim Taylor 1967
RB: Vaugn Dunbar 1992-94
WR: Albert Connell 2001
WR; Lindsay Scott 1982-85
TE: Coby Fleener 2016-17
OL: Keno Hills 1996-98
OL: Royce Smith 1972
OL: Olin Kreutz 2011
OL: Daryl Terrell 1999-01
OL: Sam Holden 1971

DL: Joe Campbell 1977-80
DL: Ted Gregory 1988
DL: Jonathan Sullivan 2003-05

LB: Junior Galette 2010-14
LB: Alvin Toles 1985-88
LB: Les Kelley 1967-69
LB: Rick Middleton 1974-75

CB: Brandon Browner 2015
CB: Jason David 2007-08
S: Tebucky Jones 2003-04
S: Josh Bullocks 2005-08

K: Happy Feller 1972-73
P Russel Erxleben 1979-83
Tebucky Jones was such a beast on Madden, but horrible in real life

so, rather than having a conversation involving nuance about this season, I’ll just assume you would prefer Danny Abramowitz as our coordinator right now over Pete Carmichael.
