Lets build the worst Saints team ever! (2 Viewers)

so, rather than having a conversation involving nuance about this season, I’ll just assume you would prefer Danny Abramowitz as our coordinator right now over Pete Carmichael.
As I posted a couple posts ago, Abramowicz was OC during the Ditka years, and had Heath Shuler, the Billy Joes, Danny Wuerffel, and a drunk Kerry Collins to work with. Hard to tell (impossible, even) what he would've done in a somewhat stable situation, with semi-decent QB's and semi decent WRs instead of Keith Poole and Brett Bech.

Carl Smith gets a lot of heat for the Saints getting bounced out of the playoffs in the first round. Those days, we also had the pleasure of watching the best offense in football in the Saints division, the 49ers of Walsh and Montana.

Gotcha. You’re tripling down. Pete’s the worst Saints OC ever.

I've made a mistake. I initially thought that we drafted Molden and Kelly in the same draft. I was wrong as we took Je'Rod Cherry on the 2nd round. I then perused the rest of our 1996 draft and now I'm sad.

For the record, Kelly was our 2nd round pick in 1997. I looked at that one as well and it too, is not a pretty sight.

So, Jean-Baptiste, a R2 pick who couldn’t get on the the field and was cut after 1 tackle in 1 season (4 games) wasn’t worse than Browner, who started 16 games with 76 tackles and 10 PBU?
I can kinda see Browner being worse in the sense that his presence on the field just made everything worse. SJB was bad....but Browner hurt us more through his negative contributions

I will start with the secondary:

Can't believe someone gave you a falcon for this thread. Why are so many people on this board such killjoys! You're taking a negative and turning it positive whereas they sit back and just drop negative bombs. Sad. 😒

i feel the same way about people who complain about Falcons or Clowns. who cares, if you get one get over it and move on..

It got to the point where on 3rd down the other teams QB would just throw at him. Or am I confusing him with David?

Take it Dan Morgan won’t count since he never took an actual snap during the season

I literally only opened this thread to read Kevin Kaesviharn's name, so thank you.
I felt bad firing strays at him like that but he did his absolute best and I can’t fault him for that. 😂

We could probably just chalk it up to how garbage Gary Gibbs’ defensive scheme was since he had a pretty good stint in Cincinnati before coming here (same with Jason David in Indianapolis).

We would’ve been better playing a 10-man scheme on defense that year than starting Brandon Browner. I’m 1000% serious. He was historically awful. Most penalized player in NFL history for a single season (by a lot). Yes, I’d play SJB over him.
Big facts.

In case anyone erased how bad he was, dude had 21 flags in 16 games; absolute penalty magnet.

Based purely on football skills, this is ridiculous. He had over 30 sacks in four full years playing here

Galette was not worse than Colby Buckwoldt
This. Even today, Galette is STILL the 2nd best pass rusher we’ve had since he was signed in 2010, behind only Cam.

Granderson is coming on great the last 2 years, Davenport had some flashes (when he wasn’t injured), and Okafor was very solid his stint here despite not having flashy numbers but none of which have been able to break through that double digit sack mark yet (that Galette did twice in 5 seasons) so they’re still a pretty distant 3rd, 4th, and 5th behind Galette.

Total head case off the field though.
