Lord of the Rings Series -- Amazon (2 Viewers)

I felt like this whole show works better if its centered around Sauron, and not Galadriel. Instead of having the drama over who is Sauron, you can create a mystery about when does he turn evil. Which can last longer then Season 1. Show him asking for forgiveness, and then spend the first season primarily with the elves creating theirs, and dwarves rings. You can still have a version of the numenor plot, and show a growing resentment towards Valinor. You have Sauron sail for Numenor at the end of Season 1, and spend Season 2 crafting the men's rings, and manipulating them against Valinor.

I'm some idiot on the internet and that feels like a better plot then what we got

They didn't want his story to overshadow Galadriel's in season 1. We're getting what you want in season 2.

Reports are that we’re getting a lot of his backstory in s2

I am about 3 episodes behind. I was really looking forward to this show and I find myself playing with my phone instead of watching. Just doesn’t hold my interest.

The last three episodes were okay but for the most part it's basically badly written and in many cases poorly acted.

Me too. I’ve loved both RoP and HoD
I’ve been thinking about this
One of the struggles RoP has is that it’s bona fide white hat/black hat tale during a time where we almost exclusively telling grey hat/anti hero stories (esp on tv)
Most of the tension came from sitting on reveals (and some crises of faith) vs characters wrestling with their choices (which is the norm post-Sopranos)
The success of the show will be whether the audience is willing to wrestle with philosophical questions instead of shocking character moments

What about the rings for the dwarves and the men? Sauron helped create those with elven smiths. Are they going to say that was later? I may be wrong, but I thought the dwarven rings and the rings for men were made before the elven rings which were made in secret without Sauron knowing.

I think the Dwarves weren't as effected the Elves or Men because they were created by a different entity. I don't know what they names is.

I saw a video about that and that is true. One of the Valar defied Eru and created them but instead of destroying them Eru decided they deserved to live so he gave them life. It's also why they don't have a good relationship with the Elves.

a pretty comprehensive explanation from someone who seems to remember all the details... which seem to contradict the r.o.p. retelling
The Nine were made by elves for elves.

The Seven were made by elves for elves.

The Three were made by elves for elves.

The One was made by Sauron for Sauron alone.

When the 7 & 9 failed to entrap the elves he took them violently and gifted them to men and dwarves. The men were weaker and fell under the sway of their Rings. The dwarves were made of sterner stuff and were indomitable (quite a disappointment to Sauron).
