LOST -the iconic TV series- Legacy, etc (2 Viewers)

More people need to watch the Leftovers. AND Halt and Catch Fire.

Also loved Station Eleven (highly highly recommend the book as well.)

I watched about a season of 12 monkeys. That ended up being really good?
Halt and Catch Fire was really really good with equally matched acting, I hate they had to rush it to an end.

I'm still mad at the ending. But thinking back on it, yes, it was a fun ride.
Season 1 was worthwhile on its own; a fresh show with beautiful people using quirky dialogue in a compelling mystery.

Seasons 2-3 were worthwhile only insofar as building a complex mystery that would need a big payoff at the end.

Seasons 4-5 slowly revealed that there would be no payoff.

Season 6 admitted that the writers had no friggin clue what they were doing. Anybody mad about the Game Of Thrones finale needs to remember this BS.

I was very late to the game with Lost.. didnt watch for the first time until circa 2009 when it was in syndication on some basic cable channel .. in any case, i loved the first season or two.. but like other series i can think of- mainly 24, that i also loved the first season or two- neither show was apparently designed to go beyond 10 or 12 episodes, and it’s very obvious …. With Lost, it was a fantastic premise, and great execution- but once it became a hit and they had to keep churning out more and more seasons of it- they brought the silly SciFi elements into the mix, and it just went on for way too long IMO….. same with 24, it should have just ended after the first 13 eps, but of course, money speaks loudly .

I think Lindlehof learned valuable lessons and is now one of the surefire show runners (The Leftovers is an all time great show)
Most of the actors were character actors who kept doing that
Seemingly people just didn’t like working with Matthew Fox so he flamed then faded
‘Sawyer’ is the only one who really surprised me - not sure why he didn’t make it bigger
Wait! Sawyer didn’t come back as Jamie Lannister in GoT?!?

Never watched it.

Thanks for your input?

I just finished watching the series for the first time last week. It was entertaining and I enjoyed most of the characters, but I couldn't help but get the feeling that they were making it up as they went along. The last two seasons weren't terrible, but there was an obvious decline and it felt like a completely different show. I was never that interested in what happened in their non-island lives so it got a little boring for me. I thought the series finale was anti-climatic, but it could have worked better if it'd been executed differently. I wasn't as disappointed as most people seemed to be, but I went into it expecting to be let down. (side note: Hulu has the unedited version of the finale which is about 20 minutes longer than the network version.)

‘The new man in charge’?
That was more a dvd extra than edit
Or is there something else?

They were .

If you go down the behind-the-scenes rabbit hole , and it’s been over 10 yrs since i did, so im a little fuzzy on the details- it was only supposed to be a one season show, IIRC.. and it was BRILLIANT.. like i said though , it became not just a hit, but a phenomenon- and they just had to keep going and going, and it compromised the show .
