Marquez Callaway (1 Viewer)

Hopkin runs a 4.41 (really fast) compared to Calloway who runs a 4.57 for comparison that is slower Treylon Burks and Michael Thomas. So last year when he couldn't separate, now you know why.

So are you really stating that straight line speed is the best measure of separation? If so your ignorance of the WR position is on full display here….cone/shuttle short space quickness and upper body strength (to a degree) are way more important than the 40 time…..wow….just wow…..

Dan, nice writeup on MC, I think he could be a major contributor this year for all the reasons you state…..

That sprinkle Harty crap needs to go (not aimed at you but the team), that guy is fire in a bottle, I think with the same skills set as Tyrek Hill if you ask me. It reminds me of the Pierre Thomas situation when he clearly had that "it" factor and CSP took his sweet time to trust and give him the playing time he deserved.

They gave a big time signing bonus to a UDFA returner. Plan could be to give Harty more playing time on offense and keep him healthy.

I said sprinkle due to size and injury history. He’s gotten hurt the last two years while playing offense. Once he gets hurt then you lose an all pro return man as well. That’s also why I said use him and Olave as they used Mech and Henderson they were interchangeable. Meaning he is still getting reps and now with Olave you have to pick your poison. Hill is 5’10-11” 185-190 and Harty is 5’6-7” 170. I just don’t want Harty to get broken.

Michael Thomas returning will have a profound impact on the offense and passing game.
…adding Olave should provide an immediate improvement to the WR corps as well, and I view him as a younger version of Emmanuel Sanders.

I like Callaway as well, and I believe he will have the opportunity to work both in the slot and on the outside, depending on the package.
Deonte will get work as well… and his role should continue to expand.

I’m interested/excited to see how Taysom Hill is used within the offense in the H-back/TE role. The Saints did not add a FB this offseason, and I don’t believe Prentice is very good… I think Hill could be used as the FB quite often.

Ignorance, is that a joke? Yall are literally trying to compare DHop to Callaway which is a joke in it self. DHop is a top 5 wr in the league that in 10 games last year and still had more TDs that Callaway. Please stop with this. Didn't I just say in one of my last post that, I'm going to with hold judgement on Callaway until the season starts. Reading is fundamental........ to some.

Lance Moore is 5’9”; Calloway is 6’2”. They aren’t the same body type. In his 2nd season, Calloway had close to 50 receptions for about 700 yds, whereas Moore had around 30 for only 300 yds in his 2nd season. And Moore had Brees throwing him the ball, whereas Calloway had 4 different QBs. I don’t see Calloway being our slot receiver. In fact, Thomas used to be used in the slot as well as outside. I think we’ll see a variety of packages with a lot of interchangeability with Carmichael moving WRs around to confuse defenses and take advantage of their particular weaknesses in coverage.

Sorta. The biggest problem Calloway had last season was that he was matched up against a #1 corner, something Lance never saw. In the slot against a nickel, I think Marquez will feast.

That takes CGM out of the slot, where he has already feasted. Calloway is a big enough body to play outside. I doubt he's going to be our regular slot receiver. Whatever else happens next season, we'll see Thomas in the slot a lot.

I think a healthy Thomas opens things up for Olave and Calloway. I'm not sure about him being effective in the slot because you need a suddeness to be a slot player and Calloway seems like a one trick pony in regard to his routes as he is affective going deep and on slants. (Well a two trick pony).

I think Harty goes back to his PR/KR duties and gets 4th reciever snaps but we can't over work him on offense as his primary function is as a special team returner.
Agreed Calloway has terrible skillet to play the slot. Lol

You need the immediate quicktwitch breaks right of the line, change of direction and stop and go speed. It takes Calloway a long time to get to top speed.

There is absolute no quickness in Calloway game

You misinterpreted what I said, sorry I wasn't clearer. Callaway will never face a team's #1 corner with Olave and MT on the field. Even if Callaway is lined up on the outside, they're not gonna put their #1 corner on him and leave MT against a corner that he'll bully onto the practice squad.

Agreed. Harty's suddenness, change of direction, and ridiculous acceleration are too good to leave him as strictly a special-teamer. You need that element to complement the rest of the WR corps.

I agree with you on Calloway being effective on the outside and he will now face the worse pass defending corners on the opponents team. Calloway might be 1 of the best #2 outside recievers in the league

Calloway however doesn't have the skillet to catch slants and short crossing patterns 5 yards from the line of scrimmage and run after catch

MT will be our short passing game

I’m not arguing about DHop or Calloway….what I’m saying is you have no idea how to analyze measureables….it’s the very old tired trope (mostly by the “experts” in the media) that put a premium on the 40 yard dash….when cone, shuttle and upper body strength are more important….yes you are ignorant in that regard…..no joke….

To add to your point, Deonte Harty (nee Harris) had a 4.56 40 time. Yet he blows by 4.3 corners and safeties like they're standing still because of his ridiculous acceleration and change of direction skills.
