Such a sad situation. Drinking a driving. Ugh

And while there's no excuse for drinking and driving, Ruggs is 22 years old. This is going to be a hard, life changing event for him too. He's likely going to be suspended from the league for a year and he's probably going to face other consequences, litigation and possibly lose a lot more, all for making the decision to drive while intoxicated.
The victims family will be traumatized and this whole thing is sad all the way around.
Stallworth missed (suspended by the league) an entire season (2009) after serving just 24 days in jail.I don’t think so. Stallworth missed a few months.
I agree, but I've seen drunk drivers not get jail time for stuff like this all too often. We'll see. I think he should get some jail time, like a year at least.I mean he killed someone.
Hopefully he gets jail time.
Thanks for the clarification. I must have been confusing his jail time with suspension time. I'll edit.Stallworth missed an entire season (2009) after serving just 24 days in jail.
After that he did 4 unremarkable yrs on 4 teams.

I don't understand. All that money and you can't call an Uber? Am i remembering correct that the NFL has a no question asked free ride program number or something like that?
I have a feeling he won't be rich after all this shakes out. And with the serious injuries he's sustained, he might not ever be able to play again. He's also rich and famous. Normal rules don't apply to them.
Sure, but there's no precedent for that. As far as I'm aware, this is his first time being in trouble. If he had a history of this, then I'd be inclined to agree. No excuse whatsoever for this. He should be released for cause., Forced to back any signing bonus, and banned from the NFL.
Stallworth wasn't prosecuted for the death because under Florida law at the time the pedestrian he hit was also in the wrong for jaywalking. Stallworth never tried to fight the lawsuit the guys daughter filed and quickly settled it. He easily could have fought the suit for years but didn't. He owned up to his mistake and paid her. Thanks for the clarification. I must have been confusing his jail time with suspension time. I'll edit.
Indeed. I suspect he'll be out of the league minimum 2 years, that's if jail is less than that. Considering what I've seen in other DUI accidents for first time DUI offenders, I'd be surprised if he gets more than 6 months jail time.Stallworth hit someone J-walking across the street at night. Honestly, it may have happened even if he was sober. He wasn't...so he paid the penalty. This is much worse.
