Report: Henry Ruggs involved in "serious" car accident

TMZ reports that Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs has been involved in a "serious" car accident.

I've avoided TV and YouTube commentary on this as I usually do with things of this nature. I know what happened. I don't want to be entertained by discussion about this. I don't want to be a gawker.

It's sad and as someone who admits to drinking excessively when I do drink, everyone involved gets my sympathy.

There's no happy ending here folks.

You’re in your RAV4 and you suddenly see headlights zooming at you in the rear view mirror. A horrific loud crashing noise and then fade to black. That was your last few seconds on earth. Unavoidable. Simply the misfortune of being in that place at that time.

The worst part in all of this are the turds that dirty their hands in “helping a misguided soul” by not giving these individuals the harshest penalty possible. The judges and family members that get these clowns off the hook can rot under the prison with these miscreants.

If we can mandate masks and vaccines, why not mandate sobriety check points when you exit a bar or restaurant and we're served alcohol?

Bottom line on NFL Network (rebroadcast of Saints/Bucs game) just said Ruggs was booked into the Vegas detention center. Charged with DUI resulting in death and reckless driving. Said he was traveling at a high rate of speed with a female in the vehicle with him.

Indeed. I suspect he'll be out of the league minimum 2 years, that's if jail is less than that. Considering what I've seen in other DUI accidents for first time DUI offenders, I'd be surprised if he gets more than 6 months jail time.

Two years minumum for a death, associated with a DUI in Vegas, buddy!! They do not play nice there, with these types of cases. Ruggs going to find out real fast. His life as NFL player is over!

This happens far too much.

Each day about 28 people in America die in drunk-driving car crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

I don't know the answer but I believe part of it is less fines and more penalty.

No love for drunk drivers simply because just like D.A.R.E, you are taught early and often that it's bad. If you're a millionaire who can't arrange for an uber, lyft, or designated driver, you deserve all that comes with your "mistake"

I think I may be a lot older than some of you ladies and gents on this board but be thankful that you grew up when you did. When I was a teenager it was not only cool to grab a case and ride around with your friends listening to music and trying to pick up girls. There’s no telling how many times I drove while drunk and thank God I never hurt anyone or got hurt myself. I’m devastated by the loss of life in this accident and thankful that it wasn’t worse. I’m thankful that now the practice of drinking and driving is frowned on much more than it was when I was younger and there’s not a single person on this board that I want to become victim of someone who is driving impaired and yes that includes dtc. We may not see eye to eye on many things but I want him to grow to become a much older and much bigger a hole. (J/K)
