How do you like the Bryan Bresee pick?

We might not need a guard or a 3rd LB right now but there's a good chance we'll need either one at any point between game one and game seventeen.
Ram's knee brings back memories of Jaamal Brown. At some point Hurst becomes our starting guard which means that if Penning struggles we go from an All-Star OL to an All_Scrub Ol for the fourth year in a row.

Same for LB.
Same for every position really. Having 1 quality backup OL is pretty standard going into a season. Actually better than most teams. We just really need to catch some injury luck.

Marcus Davenport/Payton Turner had a sister die from cancer, got strep that turned into a kidney infection?? That's fluky stuff. The ACL happened, but he has already recovered. That can happen to anyone. The upside is off the charts, and he knows how to play. You don't get that at #29 without the "life" stuff. Is is not like he fell down the board for character issues. He just had bad luck the year before eligibly. Which was good luck for us.

This is an A++ to me. A+ for the player potential, skill and size... and the other + because we need help at that position.
I can assure you I am rooting for him. Not just because he's our pick but because he seems like a genuinely good dude who has been through a lot. He just seems like a dude that tragedy always seems to cling to him.

I agree... I'm just tired of the "IF" stuff in first round rotational players... He seems like a great dude, with some bad luck, that never really got a chance to live up to his hype.... I was ready for a not so much "IF" player (cleaner).... we passed on a few... again.
Bro… I completely agree! From now on, the Saints should only draft blue chip, sure fire, can’t miss 1st round picks at the bottom of the 1st round… they’re so stupid!

Why didn’t they pick Will Anderson!?!?

🙄

I swear man… I like different perspectives, I’m not a fan of sunshine pumpers either but you’re sooooooo negitive.

I’m curious. Those that know more about Breese, what do you make of his lack of production and downward trend in stats (I understand the injuries and personal issues) looking at his breakdown (if I missed something or got numbers wrong I apologize)

20/21 12 GP 10 GS 23 TT 13 Solo 6.5 TFL 4 Sacks
21/22 4 GP 4 GS 12 TT 5 Solo 3 TFL
1.5 Sacks
22/23 10 GP 7 GS 15 TT 9 Solo 5.5 TFL 3.5 Sacks

Defensive snap counts

GT 36 of 54
FUR 37 of 50
WF 50 of 75
FSU 22 of 80
SYR 33 of 72
ND 41 of 63
LOU 40 of 69
USC 15 of 69
UNC 28 of 73
TEN 28 of 69

So most snaps in a game was 50. That game he had 2 Solo tackles and no sacks. He had 1 sack against each Syracuse, Louisville and Tennessee and a 1/2 sack against Georgia Tech. Most solo tackes in a game was 2 (4 times) and his most active game was GT with 4 total tackles with 1 being a solo. Florida State and SC he was held off the stat sheet. Against Syracuse and Notre Dame he has only 1 solo tackle and against NC had one assisted tackle. He played 330 of 604 total defensive snaps, about 55%. Why what seems to be a decreased snap count the later the season went on? I lost a sister, so I understand what he was going through was not easy, I don’t want to bring that into question. I don’t really watch Clemson football and I understand the box score doesn’t show everything but I’m not too excited by what I do see.

I’ve read that conditioning has been an issue for him.

not sure if these have been posted but you get a pretty good look on these. Didn’t confirm it but one mentions a 30+% missed tackle rate. Not good. Even less impressed after getting through these.

He missed four tackles his entire career at Clemson. I know you said you didn’t confirm, but that’s way, way off.

I’ll keep trying to look further but this one has his missed tackle rate at 31.3

I agree with the most of the other posters here when it comes to Simms. He’s not very informed, tends to talk out of his a** and just because he says something good that might make me temporarily feel good about something that concerns the Saints. In fact I think it makes me feel worse that Simms likes it. Again, haven’t and won’t watch it. Not giving him the clicks but thanks.

You clearly don't like the pick. That's fine.

Let's talk about the 31% missed tackle stat from "Belly Up Sports" (whoever that is).

The PFF Draft Profile for Bresee clearly states "Bresee had a key missed tackle in this game that cost Clemson 17 yards. Having said that, he doesn't miss many tackles, as he only has four missed tackles in his entire career at Clemson."
There is no date on the article, but it clearly states it is after the season, so those 4 missed tackles would encompass his whole career.

Belly Up Sports indicates the stats on their profile are from PFF and shows he has 5 missed tackles in 2022 alone.
There is a disconnect somewhere.

Maybe PFF has it wrong in their draft profile.

Or maybe it is Uriel "Yuke" Klein... the Die-hard Ravens + Lakers fan, wild sports fan to the core who believes LeBron > MJ, who will debate any topic with anyone and encourages us to "come at him."
