He's not necessarily obligated to do anything, but it can be a good gesture to the team to restructure his contract. Other players have done it and there is precedent for it.

That said, I don't know where he is on it. Maybe he's had issues with the front office for other reasons and that's influencing him. But it's hard to just without having all of the facts.
Definitely off field influences if he is having them.

Its still wrong

Why do people hate how much athletes make when it's their attention that makes what they do worth so much?

Secondly I have no problem with how much they make...they work their entire lives to get where they are and they're < 1% of those who dedicated their lives to that goal. Not only are they physically gifted, they're also the most mentally gifted at what they do despite what us fat guys on the couch think about them.

There entire lives? They are 24 years old. Tell the cop who has been working for 40 years why he could make $1+ million over that 40 year span. They are physically gifted and mentally gifted despite what us fat guys on the couch think about them.

That's probably what happened. He wants to keep that money because he probably plays healthy next year and taking a restructure would mean he would be giving up a lot to perform for pennies. Injuries and setbacks happen, but if MT is healthy and stays healthy, he deserves the money. It's just unfortunate with his injuries.
Man, I’m not tryn to argue who deserves what but you make top money and not play for three years, you aren’t a victim.

Silly post.

They’re not “playing a game.” They are in the entertainment industry and there are TV networks, sponsors, and fans paying billions of dollars in total to broadcast them, advertise with them, and watch them.

Should all that money just stay in the owners’ pockets, or should the actual entertainers get their fair share of the pie?
Yea, if actors make that kinda Jack for making a movie I don’t watch then how can you begrudge athletes for what they make.

There is no restructure to be done with his contract for the upcoming season. That was done at the end of the 2022 season so that part of the cap hit was taken then. He has a minimum salary and just a 250k roster bonus due for 2023.

And to that point, unlike all those other entertainers, athletes are doing more damage to their bodies, than any of those other entertainers listed (well, maybe not as much damage as those working with Alec Baldwin).

I can remember NFL happenings from 1990 til now, but I can’t remember, wasn’t MT’s injury caused by being put out on the field too soon, or wasn’t it the teams fault that he has been banged up? The other thing is his injury isn’t as simple as being shot 12 times, or tearing an ACL, the recovery (as I understand it) is more complicated.

I’m not quite ready to be done with MT. We all know that if he is cut he is going to link back up with Sean, and I just can’t have that.
