Mickey Loomis’ End Of Year Press Conference (2 Viewers)

I don't recall him being like that before. He is older now and doesn't have a credible mouthpiece anymore, like Payton was, so he has to be the guy. I really don't think he likes it.
The whole gum chewing, I take it as a sign of being nervous. He knew all eyes would be on him and he just looked like someone who was nervous and didn’t want to own up to his poor decisions.

I really think he believes in his decisions and that every one else is wrong.

The one positive I took from it was him admitting things got too comfortable and he’s going to make it uncomfortable.

Being 2024 doesn't change that something happened. It's like saying that's true but I don't care.
Yep, but they had the rest of the seasons after to get a QB. No, we doubled down on oline and dline that are serviceable at best. Could have at least tried to take a QB early.

Thats why you have backup's, Mickey. If you're going to say injury affected Carr's play, then that is on your coaching staff to play the healthy backup.
Good point Mickey.

Like when Garapolo got hurt, and the Niners were forced to play Purdy.

Here is a quote from his press conference that bothers me more than anything.

I’ve got to hold our guys to a standard to do the things necessary to win, and I think that I probably let that slip a little bit over the last couple years, and we’re going to get that recalibrated. And so that’s my message to our entire building. It’s not just to the players and coaches, it’s to our entire building.

Mickey has to hold people accountable. That should be the head coach holding people accountable. This is the problem, a problem that wasn't there when Sean was running things. It's also a problem because Mickey wanted more control and that meant less Sean, this is the result.

Sounded like some double speak. "We need a kick in the rear/shake it up" "we did our job"

Mickey is 44-54 record w/o Payton

I just finished the whole thing, I must say that I enjoyed the back half of the conference. Liked a lot of what he had to say towards the end, and his demeanor.

Billion dollar business. These people have staff that look them over and make sure everything is ready to go before they go on camera. Either the gum smacking was some kind of troll or he has surrounded himself in a cocoon of incompetence. Either way hard times are ahead for us Saints fans.
There has been several posters on here saying this for a while and I didn’t believe it. I do now . This season has revealed where the real ineptitude lies. Dennis Allen is only a symptom of the problem.

Yep. I think he’s always been arrogant but it’s become more apparent and almost insulting because of his ridiculous defenses of Allen.

Nothing wrong with arrogance but when you allow it to impact your decision making (because you think you’re too clever to be wrong) then that’s an issue.

Arrogance has to be earned. Payton earned that right. Loomis has only exposed himself since he left. He should have hired a strong HC and given him what he needs to be successful instead of installing a puppet and trying to make the decisions himself. Couldn't even maintain the "culture" he talked soo much about.
