Mulled Wine (1 Viewer)

I only drink Smoking Bishop.
I don’t know if you posted this as a joke, but I made this today and it was great

i like my usual recipe better but this was very good

I wonder if mulled wine goes with pud?

This reminds me of sipping mulled wine from one of the street vendors on Champs-Elysee as we meandered thru the Christmas offerings.

5\7 would recommend over pumpkin or apple cider.

Almost mulled wine season

Have 3 different recipes I’ll be trying this year

Been making this for years, love it

Mulled Lemonade

5 cups water divided
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice
3 cinnamon sticks
6 whole star anise
4 slices fresh ginger
4 pieces orange peel large
20 whole cloves
6 cracked green cardamom pods
1/2 teaspoon pink peppercorns

Instructions

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar and all pieces. Cover and allow the simple syrup to steep for at least 20 minutes. (The longer the better.)

Pour the syrup into a large pitcher. Then pour in the remaining 3 cups of water and lemon juice. Fill the pitcher with ice and stir.

Going to try these

Thank you for sharing all the recipes. My wife and I are going to try the one you posted last year - this weekend. It’s supposed to be dipping into the the 30s.

I don’t usually drink alcohol, but when I do, it’s delicious Ripple (tm) that I cook in my crockpot. :hihi:

What kind of wine do you use? I see dry wine in the recipes, but I can't imagine that you would want to use something good, right? Since all the flavoring is going to take over, I'd imagine it would be a cheaper Cab or what?

Nothing expensive
I’ve done cabs, Malbec, Pinot noir or merlot

Frankly I think they all come out tasting pretty much the same

Gonna have to try some of these recipes for sure.

Here is one I have made before at Thanksgiving and it was well liked. I did it with champagne so it was pretty strong

USS Richmond Punch

  • 6 lemons
  • 1 1/2 cups extra fine sugar
  • 2 cups strongly brewed black tea (2 tea bags steeped in 16 ounces of water)
  • 2 cups dark Jamaican rum (such as Smith & Cross or Myers')
  • 2 glasses of cognac VS or VSOP
  • 2 cups Graham's Six Grapes Ruby Port
  • 4 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1500 ml (2 x 750 ml bottles) soda or champagne
  • Garnish: 20 lemon slices.
  • Garnish: grated nutmeg

I love lemonade and I think this sounds great but I am SUPER skeptical about the cloves (which I hate) and the peppercorns.

I've got to try this one. Sounds great. And they say it's perfect for winos, so that's even better.

2 glasses of cognac?

What is that in cups or ounces?
