Mulled Wine (5 Viewers)

I love lemonade and I think this sounds great but I am SUPER skeptical about the cloves (which I hate) and the peppercorns.
I’d leave them out

I hate caraway seed, and for a long time if I saw a recipe with them I’d say ‘nope’ and move before before it occurred that I could just not use them

Totes. But, still, I always wonder when I do stuff like that is wonder maybe I'm wrong and it'd be missing something. But it's not like I'm going to make 2 different batches and compare. Anyway, I do want to try this.

2 glasses of cognac?

What is that in cups or ounces?
Good question. That isn't the recipe I followed. I'd either find a more detailed one or add to taste

It came out very good IMO but it definitely got people buzzed more than I thought it would lol

I figure ginger ale would make a good substitute for the champagne if that is a bit too much booze

Yeah it’s the champagne causing the booze problem. 🙄

Or ginger beer maybe?

Not mulled wine (not heated) but I’ve made this several times a year for the last few years and have made it when we travel for Thanksgiving, always a big hit

1 (750 ml) bottle dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
1 cup apple cider
½ cup brandy
½ cup pumpkin butter (or apple butter)
¼ cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup, using more or less to your taste
2 honeycrisp apples, sliced
2 blood oranges, sliced
1 cup pomegranate arils
3 cinnamon sticks
1 ½ (12 ounce) ginger beers
star anise, for garnish (optional)

How to Make

1. In a large pitcher, combine all the ingredients except the ginger beer. Stir and then place in the fridge until chilled.

2. Before serving, add the ginger beer. Fill each glass with ice and pour the sangria over the ice. If desired top with more ginger beer.

Drink up!

Thank you for sharing all the recipes. My wife and I are going to try the one you posted last year - this weekend. It’s supposed to be dipping into the the 30s.

I don’t usually drink alcohol, but when I do, it’s delicious Ripple (tm) that I cook in my crockpot. :hihi:
Did you make the wine?

Update: it is delicious. Holy moly. Thank you again for sharing that recipe.
Glad you liked it, did your wife like it too?

Once we left the crockpot on for hours and the mulled wine reduced down to a syrup

That was a happy accident

Syrup was great over ice cream, mixed in sprite, mixed in rum and coke

Making the first batch of the season this weekend

Torn between my tried and true or new recipe

Been making this for years, love it

Mulled Lemonade

5 cups water divided
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice
3 cinnamon sticks
6 whole star anise
4 slices fresh ginger
4 pieces orange peel large
20 whole cloves
6 cracked green cardamom pods
1/2 teaspoon pink peppercorns

Instructions

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar and all pieces. Cover and allow the simple syrup to steep for at least 20 minutes. (The longer the better.)

Pour the syrup into a large pitcher. Then pour in the remaining 3 cups of water and lemon juice. Fill the pitcher with ice and stir.
Explain the slices of fresh ginger. Does this mean ginger root? How big? Peeled?
