New Orleans Pelicans hire Stan Van Gundy (1 Viewer)

I think we’ll needs pic of Loco’s boobs to determine if they are calm or not

Don't. They'll come with a 10 page dissertation of every wrinkle assessing their calmness.

Thats what I get for trying to be funny.

I don't think there is any doubt SVG is a good coach on the court. But I think there has a been a clear shift in player attitude in the last 4 - 5 years. Even some rumors Shaq had him removed in Miami.

So all boobs aside, I'm not getting too giddy yet. I was hoping for a Monty Williams type coach myself.

I actually think player attitudes have been shifting a lot longer than that. They're changing all the time, and the good coaches do adjust their approach with those changes. I suspect Van Gundy is well aware of that and I think he'll figure out what works.

As for Shaq, I can't remember him ever talking bad about Van Gundy. Maybe he did, but I'm not aware of it.

This, always expected this dude to click and become dominant

it’s always so sad to me when a head case undermines incredible talent

Agreed. I thought he was going to be as good as Shaq, but his career has been completely underwhelming. So much wasted potential.

I think this one is the social media/podcast era where players tend to be loose canons more. Jaxson Hayes has his little episode last year about the rookie all star game. Plus there's been more juice to players playing a stronger hand in their own free agency. Even more than when Lebron did it with Clev to Miami a decade ago.

The Shaq thing is just a rumor. SVG "resigned" after a cool start to the 2005 year in Miami. A year after he led them to 59 wins and a trip to the ECF. Then it was a repeat in Orlando. After he guided them to consecutive 59 win seasons, a trip to the finals and ECF.

So again clearly, this man can coach. He can coach his arse off. Winning 60 games is hard in the NBA and he did it repeatedly. But then after all that success, something happens and he's let go. As if everyone is cool with his coaching style as long as they are winning. But as soon as the winning cools down just a bit, things seem to sour faster than it should. After he clearly seems like a franchise, 10 year tenure guy.

Yeah, I grant that it's not a slam dunk and that your point should be well taken. It's hard to tell, but with the Heat, that move was all Riley imo. Riley has done well getting good players who play well together in Miami, but his track record in hiring coaches before bringing Spolestra on was spotty at best.

Orlando, that was pretty much Howard saying SVG has to go or he goes. SVG gets canned and then Howard ends up out anyway. That whole thing was poorly handled by the Magic front office. They really haven't been the same since.

So yeah, SVG not having some staying power is concerning, but his coaching ability I think is enough to alleviate that concern to some degree. Time will tell I guess.

I’ll keep it short and just roll my eyes next time. You were being more than a little snarky and have continued doing it in other posts and emojis. It’s not a big deal, but it is what happened.

I was writing about basketball. If my posts are too long, skip them. It’s fine.

So, does this mean your boobs are fine?

It's cool we're all basketball fans. Apologies for the snark.

My taste for boobs clearly got out of hand.
