I'm not sure if you're familiar with it, but many of the Mardi Gras krewes have a huge party after the parade finishes its route and they call it a Ball. The end of the parade is like the end of a fireworks show where everything goes nuts. Bacchus is one of the big parades, and they roll into a huge arena (it used to be the Superdome for Bacchus, but that was a long time ago).
Check this out - it's pretty cool. Good stuff starts about 35 seconds in.
I am making a lamb roast for New Year’s Day that I’m looking forward to
Other than that still could care less
I heard a couple pop off in the distance last night, as well. I figure there will be more tonight and then the full bombardment will begin Sunday night. The jackarses started shooting off fireworks as of yesterday (Thursday night) in my neighborhood, good thing I don't have a pet...
Mine is on the 2nd. When I was a young man, I would party for a week. Now, I have to make sure and not drink the wrong beer…It’s my birthday. So it’s basically a party either way. But as I get older I hurt for half the year after partying, so it’s a meh from me.
Speaking of informal evening gown- for years many homeless had little choice but to use a bed comforter as outerwear - now kids do it all the time but more with the energy of ‘you never know when you need a picnic blanket’
