Oh well, thus are those wonder filled Golden Years.

I was so disappointed when I found out for myself what the "Golden" part was. No one ever told me what it was.

Why didn't they tell me what it was?

Nothing too warped. A few beers and then these living room hogs come down Sunday. Love em though, some of those cars are my age.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with it, but many of the Mardi Gras krewes have a huge party after the parade finishes its route and they call it a Ball. The end of the parade is like the end of a fireworks show where everything goes nuts. Bacchus is one of the big parades, and they roll into a huge arena (it used to be the Superdome for Bacchus, but that was a long time ago).

Check this out - it's pretty cool. Good stuff starts about 35 seconds in.

The end of the parade is like the end of a fireworks show where everything goes nuts. Bacchus is one of the big parades, and they roll into a huge arena (it used to be the Superdome for Bacchus, but that was a long time ago).

Seriously though, I have travelled a lot in my life. I've been to places I wouldn't pay good money to travel to. And I've partied (partyed?) in all of them but, I've never been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. This says a lot about a Louisiana boy. Being born and bred in Louisiana, I had a lot to live up to. I've had good friends from Bangor, Maine....Brooklyn...Little Rock...Santa Rosa, CA and it doesn't matter where you lived in Louisiana, you were from New Orleans. And partying was your strong suit! I think I would have had a blast at Mardi Gras, especially Bacchus! Probably for the best, I never got the chance. No regrets though. I once pulled a drunk Marine out of a pool in Karachi, saved his life, it was the least I could do since he and his buddies were throwing a party for us. Maybe I have been to a Mardi Gras, of sorts, many of them in fact. But, it would be much cooler to party with my Louisiana brothers and sisters! You guys are next level!

Not exactly the same thing, but, I participated in the Krewe of Trobadours townhouse ball in Lafayette a few times when I was a kid. My mom was Queen of the ball one year too. I wish I could find the pics. Pretty fond memories of that. The costumes were fascinating.

Same here except it was Wednesday night I think. They blew fireworks for a couple of hours. My only thoughts were, it's not NYE and what kind of fool spends that much money on fireworks?
I can think of alot better ways to drop 3 or 4 hundred bucks.
