Payton said after the game that it would have been Siemian even if Hill was active for this game. But next week it would be Hill. I'm sure he means assuming that Hill is healthy.

Payton did NOT say Hill would be starting next week, just that if Hill hadn’t been injured Siemian would have been backup and Hill would’ve started the next week.

That’s what will happen if Hill is healthy. No way Siemian starts over Hill. Hill was second to Winston this off-season, and nothing has changed. (The thoughts in this paragraph are mine, not Payton’s.)

People screaming for Hill are probably those who aren’t thinking with their heads. They are thinking emotionally. Look at his performance. He can’t carry this team to a championship. Payton just may ride with Semien and Book. Use Hill as third string. But I bet he brings in another experienced QB. For the same reason he has Semien backing up Winston.

For Hill to be successful, Sean needs to revamp the offense to take advantage of his particular skill set.

Winston proved to me to have better pocket awareness and escapability than Hill has shown. A hill-led offense must rely on far more designed QB runs, to be successful. We will see now just how successful, or not that type of offense can be.

He has Siemian backing up Winston because Hill practices other things all week when Winston starts. When he is the starter, he takes QB snaps only. And, as per Kat Terrell above, it will be Hill if he is healthy.

That’s Kat Terrell’s take. I’ll wait on Payton. But I still don’t think Payton will try to ride Hill the rest of the season if Winston is done for the season.

Just shows how durable those guys were. Not seeing that in today’s QBs. Most are made of Teflon.

No, he’s really not. He did ok considering he’s a 3rd string QB but he missed some easy throws that any NFL QB should be making in their sleep

Winston will be back and deserves to be back if not start working Drew this team is too good not to entrust to a front line qb which both drew and Winston are!!

it isn't like we're on #4 because of performance reasons...we've just been snake bitten the last couple of years w/ QB injuries. THE BILL COMES DUE!!!!

Payton has already said several times that Siemian is the man in an emergency, but Hill is the man with a week to prepare.

The only caveat here is that Hill is still recovering from a concussion. If he’s cleared, he’s the guy. Point blank.
