Ok I’ll probably get trashed for this but…. (1 Viewer)

Haha. I’m as optimistic as anyone but your post basically says “What if we become good at playing football again, then how far away are we?” 😂
Before injuries, the first 2 games last year, I think we were pretty good at playing football

I tried to tell him that you would have to restructure almost the whole team to get cap compliant without restructuring DC and then we'd have NO $ to even sign our own FAs more less field a mildly competitive team. And if we try and cut those aging players next next yr we'll have a massive dead cap that will eat at most of the cap savings we get from releasing DC , AND we'd be paying for all those players we cut not being on the team AND have to replace them

What about it? We will have a whole lot of dead cap space while we are getting off these contracts, we have no choice in that matter
We'll have an accelerated cap $ if we cut these players we restructured this yr next yr . You just can't restructure a player the cut him the following yr and not have that restructure get accelerated

Does anyone know the cap savings if Olave and Hill are released with injury designation?

So... How do we field an actual football team?

after 1 June, Ram and Cam can retire and a large part of their cap space is moved to 2026 (around 50%). We then really need to hit the college free agents and hopefully find some that are gems.

I've heard speculation of trading Carr and the receiving team eating some of the cap space. I have also heard the same about Hill. I'm not putting much stock in those theories.

Correct, after doing everything I stated we would have around 100-110 million in available cap space for 2026 once you lower Carr’s cap hit. Take out the accelerated salaries and we would be 60-70 million in available cap space whether you keep or cut Taysom, Cam, Demario etc.

Loomis generally finds coach then builds team as that coach wants. It was mostly a great partnering with Payton, DA didn't prove to be good, let's see how next one goes. Loomis generally. Just makes whatever finances function. No top dollar outside guys, but gives those that earn it inside top contracts, some that really didn't keep earning it t that bit us.
That's beside the point.

Sorry this is insanity, Cam is not retiring. For every player you released, you have to sign a player to take their place. You are releasing players that will make less than the league min and some of them are promising young players. You are trading players that don't have much trade value.
You are pretty much gutting the team just so you can had some cap space next yr

It was the only way to get cap compliant. I’m not thrilled with it either.

So it's her fault for empowering Loomis like she did. So rant about getting us a new owner then?

I say we punt until 2027 and start from there
