Ok, You are Dennis Allen (3 Viewers)

Because it's a lazy response. And just really dumb. No coach or just anyone in general would pass up millions of $ and just resign after being given a chance to coach and maybe change the minds of everyone that hates me SMH
Woah! Read my comment, my guy. I never said resign. I said keep doing what you’re doing. We will have absolutely everything approached the same next year, except with a new OC and a tougher schedule. We will win 4-6 games. Mark my word!!

1. Hire Gruden and empower him to run his offense. That's the best I can point to right now. I don't know others well enough to speak for them directly.

2. Do something about the O-line. I'm not sure of the best course of action. Hate to just give up on Penning. Don't know what to think about Ramczyk. Maybe draft/sign a stud left guard, maybe go after tackle. Gotta bring in talent regardless.

3. I don't know if I trust them to draft a DE. Maybe they can get it done at 14. Probably better to get a significant FA signing. We need pass rush help now.

4. Figure out some concerning contracts like Thomas, Jordan and Ramczyk, maybe Lattimore and Kamara. If you will lose any of them make sure you are prepared to do so. That might be more on the front office but DA will influence it.

5. Figure out whatever culture issues you are having. This happened under your leadership. This can't be an issue next year.

1. Contact everyone that has had any interaction with my OC candidates and learn whatever I can about them. Then call any offensive coach I ever worked with or will answer my call and get their thoughts on my candidates. Leave no stone unturned while searching for information on them. Absolutely cannot afford to screw this up.

2. Look for any affordable FAs that can provide solid play at OLine and DLine. That way I’m not forced to draft those positions if someone else I want is available.

3. Reevaluate my practice schedule. Focus more on Redzone, basics like tackling, whatever. But there seemed to be some issues there this season so let’s change it up if needed.

4. This goes hand and hand with number three. Reevaluate how many reps starters get during TC and preseason games. Can’t come out of the gate slow.

I would do everything to get an elite running game. We wouldn’t be run heavy but more balanced.

They are not hiring Gruden. If they were thinking about it there would have been word of an interview scheduled.

Good post.
Assumptions:
1. Equal win total of 2023 at a minimum, but make the playoffs and win a game or more.
2. It won't truly be a win now scenario, so it will be a foundation building/win now scenario.

Top 5 Things:

1. Hire an OC. There's no rush since the playoffs are still going on and the Senior bowl is 2 weeks away. The hire needs to be right, not fast. Assess the landscape of the playoffs and what teams made it and which ones are advancing. There were only 2 finesse teams and they played each other, KC and Miami so one had to advance to this week. The other might lose today. The offense will need to be modern, but physical with a running game that can travel and be effective in December and the playoffs. Decide on a team/offense identity.

2. Fix the offensive line. Have the talk with Ram, it's nice to hold onto an aging player, but if his body is failing him and he can't go 100% for a season (that should be every player going into the year), then it might be best to move on. It would be better to deal with it in the off-season than to have our RT go out week 12 in a playoff run for a known issue going into the season. Coach up Penning and get him on the field at RT, Guard or even DT. He needs to be on the field or on the way to being on the field. Have the new OC decide what he wants to do with OL scheme and go from there. It's too expensive to sign a LT in FA, but if Latt is truly on his way out, maybe get a LT for him since LT and shutdown CBs are two of the most important positions on the field. If one of the top LT is available in the draft within striking distance, do it, but not for a project.

3. Get a big body next to Bresee. Whatever Atlanta does, there should never be a game where we get manhandled by Atlanta. Draft Sweat out of UT or like another poster say, trade for Derrick Brown. Bresee is a monster and putting someone next to him that can keep him from getting double teamed would free him up to wreak havoc. Draft or sign another DE or two. If Turner can stay healthy, he's Cam's replacement, but get another guy as well. Find a sideline to sideline LB, someone who can run and hit. We need someone who can match up to Bijan. Draft or sign an enforcer on defense, someone who delivers those "Remember Me" shots.

4. Address the finesse WRs. The finesse WRs are watching the playoffs on TV. I saw growth and development out of ATP. Olave is as finesse as they come and Shaheed is smallish, but he's not finesse. He does get nicked up so that has to be planned for. We need to bring in a couple physical WRs. An everydown TE would also help, so if Bowers is there at 14, he needs to be the pick. He would be a gamechanger.

5. Make a decision on AK. He's obviously lost a step, everyone can see it and it was mentioned in the end of year press conference. Maybe have him shed some lbs and let him be primarily a receiving back with less carriers and less wear and tear, or move on since he just completed year 7 of a 3-6 year average career. Potentially move on from Williams. He didn't show much and bringing in a young guy to backup KM. Running the ball on teams breaks their will.

You are DA. You know this yr is it if you don't make the playoffs and probably win a game more than likely you're gone.
What are at least 5 moves you are going to make knowing you have to win this yr.
Please be real and don't say " Resign" Or " just keep doing what you're doing" or " Just keep chopping wood " Or some other lazy response.
For me it's
1, Hire Waldron for OC, Of the 3 guys mentioned as candidates he's the one that give us the best chance of winning now, Robinson and Pitcher have no play-calling experience and if I'm DA I don't need a period of time for them to figure it out and get a groove
2, If Waldron doesn't want his own OL coach fire Doug Marrone. The OL had regressed EVERY yr since we re-hired DM. 1st guy I'm calling is Roy Istvan the Ast OL coach for the Eagles, he's been learning from the best OL coach in the league Stoutland
3, Sign a GOOD LT in FA, We probably can't afford great but we can do good. Ram has said he'll be back let's hope he's better than he was last yr. if not he's a liability @ RT
4, Sign a GOOD edge rusher in FA , just like LT we can't afford a great one but a good one is in our reach.
5, In the draft unless someone like Bowers falls to 14 draft a starting or soon to be starting O lineman and a pass rusher.
6, Make developing Penning a PRIORITY
These are all based on what we know now. Underhill said he does not expect us to hire an OC before the senior bowl so maybe anther better qualified candidate becomes available
OK , What's your plan or why you don't like mine?

1. I'd kill the assumption that if I don't make the playoffs or win 10 games I'm gone. Making fear based decision is sure way to affirm the fear.
2. I'd hire the Coordinator from the Rams. If you're going to imitate McVay might as well get a guy who's been on his staff the entire time.
3. Marrone is fine, they just missed on Penning. Once the oline settled, they played well as a pass blocking unit.
4. Resign Peat for LT
5. Replace Zach Baun with Josh Uche
6. Walk away from Thomas, sign Hunter Renfrow in FA.
7. Draft OL or DL w/ 1st pick. Preferably OT because Ram may only have a year left
8. Develop Penning at OG
9. Defense needs more range from S position. Jordan Howden made some big gaffes w/ more playing time...he's not the answer at deep safety.
10. Potentially look at adding a young LB if round and value fit.
11. Draft a young NT, but not a behemoth, a smaller guy w/ get off who can split gaps quickly.

1. I don't understand the Saints willingness to bring in QB coaches w/ no play calling experience, after calling for the head of an experienced OC, with little play calling experience. I'm all for youth, but not a lack of play calling experience. We have 7,8 open open head coaching vacancies this season. There will be many more experienced play callers available at the senior bowl.

The OC here is going to have to de facto run the offense. I think hiring Gruden would be a mistake, but in this case a great example of a guy who could run his own ship, and not be influenced by Mickey.

2. Whether you believe in Doug Morrone or not, he is a good O line coach. He isn't david copperfield. This O line has been mismanaged by Sean and Mickey. It is tough to make Doug the fall guy for this. Letting Armstead go, extending Ruiz, Ram's knee (bone on bone I'm told), Penning being a bust. Loomis let the O line go for yrs. he should have known that after Drew left, the QB and O line needed an up grade. No, not blaming Doug for this mess.

3. I think either FA or draft could be the answer. It will depend on who shakes loose in FA, and who is available when we pick in the draft.

4. The same thing holds true here. I think either FA or draft could be the answer. It will depend on who shakes loose in FA, and who is available when we pick in the draft.

5. With all the QBs, WRs projected to go in the first 15 picks, O linemen, and Pass rushers could fall into our lap. If Lucky Loomis doesn't give away our picks.

6. What does make Penning a priority really mean. They made him the starter. He was so bad he made everyone else on the line better, just by his benching. Develop Penning into what? LG? Don't say LT! Penning can't stop speed. He was still getting beat by the inside move last year. He will be a bust at RT also, be cause he can't stop speed. You have to move him to LG.

just keep doing what you're doing (nothing will change, but those 4 wins at the end of the season will ensure another year of employment for me)

Spend the majority of the offseason and try to improve my craft.

1. Stomping mud holes in players that repeatedly screw up during training camp.
2. Getting better at attention to detail things.
3. Get better at end of game/end of half defensive playcalling.
4. Get better at motivating players throughout the week so we can start fast on gameday.

First we need to hire an OC with a creative young mind who can build off Carr’s strengths. Also, if I was Allen, I’d give him near full control over the offense instead of meddling in it. Hire someone good then let them do their job.

I’d make sure if the cap allows it to resign Peat. Yes I know this forum loves to hate him, but he did a pretty decent job at OT last year. He may not be the shiny new toy, but with the huge question with Ram I’d hate to get 2 new tackles in the offseason.

Need to find someone to get pressure. This team has allowed the DE position to decline. There are some young guys here. Need to challenge them to step up or get them out of here. Tired of seeing the endless bench warming DE parade.

I thought we were doing things that could be attained. You’re living in fantasyland

There is no chance that they are hiring Gruden. DA would be looking over his shoulder all season and the second we lose one game it would take 30 secs for the "Fire DA and let Gruden be HC" murmurs. It would make the team worse if Gruden is brought in.

If I am DA I would focus on the trench's and bring in an OC that can use the pieces that we have on O for a ball control/west coast hybrid offense that grinds the clock with heavy running game and quick routes. Focus on the Pass Rush and Secondary. Let the D lead the way.
