Saints reached.

I'm just hoping I'm proven wrong.

People keep saying this, but turner was told that he would be selected between 20 and 40. So, if it was a reach it was only 12 picks from the latest he was supposed to go. I don’t know if he’s a good pick or not, but it looks like he went about where NFL teams expected him to go.

Positives: Three-year starter with an underrated game. Plays with good lean, effectively uses his hands, and keeps his feet moving. Has excellent length, moves well about the field, and moves fluidly if asked to twist or stunt. Strong, displays the ability to push blockers off the line, and stays with the action.

Negatives: Not a great natural pass rusher and does not show much speed off the edge. Possesses an average closing burst.

Analysis: Turner was consistently productive for Houston and has both size as well as growth potential. He’s a developmental prospect who could eventually grow into a defensive tackle in a four-man line.

Never fails, we take someone no one was thinking about.
Every year! That's why I don't even bother getting my hopes up for a certain player because Payton is just going to come out of left field with someone totally unexpected.

Along those same lines, I try not to bash picks until I see what they can do for us in a game setting. There's been too many times where I've seen us lose our minds over an unexpected pick on draft night only to find out months later that we actually picked up a legit playmaker.

If that is accurate either
1. He’s moving inside
2. Saints drafters are idiots

after the 2010 playoff debacle in Seattle then again after 2011 loss to Niners, I said Daints have to draft speedier DEs and LBs. If they just drafted a guy at DE who runs only a 4.95, Simone should be fired.
Why? Please explain lol. He graded out in the top 90% athletically

Actually we have 5 DEs now, that's pretty good, I forgot about Granderson, who could be great as well. I still think this is a sort of replacement for Jordan and if Davenport doesn't work out.

So I guess with all these DEs that means that by some time tomorrow we will be trading Davenport.

It better not be Cam Jordan we trade. He deserves to end his career on his own terms with the SAINTS after all he has done for this franchise and city.

Could be. I don't know if they/re seriously interested in Aaron Rodgers but I guess they could use one of these guys in a trade for him.

I been saying all off-season find a DE to pair with Davenport and Granderson with the FA we signed

kick Cam inside like we did his first 2 seasons a lot , next to Omenyeta and sign K.Short.

My great fear earlier today was giving up multiple high picks to trade up. If Turner is an example of sitting back and letting the draft come to you, please trade up in the future. Like the Davenport trade, this pick was metrics-driven and is totally about potential.
Who knows, perhaps we tried to trade away next years first and third round picks to trade up and take him 11th overall....just couldn’t find anyone who believed us...
🤣

Well...his interview made me feel good. Not sure what that’s worth, but he seems like a Payton guy. Character, intelligent, high energy/motor, physical specimen, wants to play for Saints, knows Cam’s game well. Just seems like the kind of person and athlete Sean gravitates to.
Hate to be the party pooper but isn’t that what we all said about Peete?

Disappointed that we could have had JOK and passed on him. If the front office likes Turner I'm on board but I really don't like the value at 28.

I often wonder if his little bullshirt cute "trout look" face he makes on the sidelines during games as if to taunt Saints fans at Dome, watching at home, or to his critics who've berated him and some of his decisions over the years extends to the FO and during the off-season where he likes playing games sometimes to show off how seemingly smarter, more intelligent he is than most of us. Payton can be an arrogant, snide little shill sometimes and he's fully aware of it as our his contemporaries, his mentor at Dallas, Bill Parcells, often said "he doesn't know to calm down and lower his fever a bit sometimes" and that smug, sheet-faced "trout look" he gives, my God, there have been times,.gentlemen, that Ive wanted to smash my fist through my T.V. or throw a brick through it, or punch Payton in the face.if he were to show that in my presence.

Payton's a very good, maybe even HOF caliber HC, but he has some bad personality quirks that can be hard to ignore and often have me telling other Saints fans on SR or in real life who complain about it when I tell them on occasion that I should "I let it go", that they go fork themselves instead and I'll say it loudly and defiantly just so there's no misunderstanding.

The Saints used a first-round pick on a defensive end that NFL Network didn't even have footage, stats or talking points queued for, since they don't do that for players graded for round 34. Watching them panic and immediately move on to Green Bay after announcing the pick was almost worth it.

The agility this guy possesses for his size is unheard of

I was curious what your thoughts was seems like you have a good feel. I feel you give pretty level headed analysis on draft picks since I joined bout 10 yes ago. he looks like a player who will fit in what the saints want to do scheme wise. seems like a hybrid player pass rush dt, left de, and stand up 3/4 olb. pick seems to me they can plug him in alot of places based on game plan or injury. not big name but overall solid
