LOL, and therein lies the conundrum. Still, I'd like to think I'd a bit more reasonable in my own life and not so willing to be so arrogant, or show off maybe a few parts of my some behavior that irk some people and frankly, sort of comes across as making me look stupid.

I mean, lets be practical here for a second, there have been more then a few occasions where Payton's stubbornness or in-game play calling arrogance did cost us games or ended up being huge mistakes that led to momentum turning in the game like last year when he called up that play with Taysom Hill vs. Packers in the Dome where we were near midfield and actually driving in the 4th quarter to try and take the lead? Payton decides on some gadget play that backfires spectacularly and Hill fumbles the fall, GB recovers and we never regain the momentum and lose the game?

I remember what this board's response was after that game and that particular play got me a lot of Thumbs-Up and favorable responses when I called out Payton's decision to try it. I suppose you take the good with the bad and it all averages out, but its very hard to ignore or overlook some of the bad things or decisions Payton's made because the chances of these risks paying off werent good to begin with and some other bad decisions were very much avoidable, IMHO.

Our FO scouts DEEP and thorough for players and there is always a reason. I have been saying for a while that I have a feeling we are going for athletic, high motor RANGY defense. I think more a "less thinking/more attacking" D is in the plans. It has been a "gut feeling" for a few months now. This solidifies it, IMHO. Long armed, rangy attacking defenders. The NT position will not be the standard, big body, lane clogging guys, they will go for smaller, strong, athletic guys who CAN set the nose but everyone else will be concerned of undersized/underweight for prototype NT. Of course, Turner will not be asked to play nose, but it is a nod to where we are going with defense. He is good inside and outside and instinctual player. Jordan needs some pressure off of him for him to have more production, as well. Richard as CB coach will be looking to field aggressive corner play. We will not be a GW blitz every down defense, but a more athletic, attacking defense with faster, strong, rangy players than we have had in the past. The defense we are trying to field is the defense that gives us fits...good containment on the perimeter and speed to the perimeter. I hope the players can have solid, disciplined gap responsibility since won't have as much BIG BODIES to clog, but again...if simpler, "pin your ears back and go" scheme...I am excited about that. On paper, I LOVE it! I don't have the injury concerns some do. 6ft6 and big wing span, 270? Geez. A lot of taller guys can have their height work to the disadvantage, but he seems to work his leverage very well and can muscle through. I am in between "LOVE IT" and "TO SOON TO TELL"! How about a sub-category of "I am intrigued and optimistic". He wouldn't have been taken in the 1st if he wasn't scouted hard and a "vision for the player".

What worries me is the durablility. I accept that the scouting headed by Ireland can pick good talent but if they can't remian on the field it doesn't matter.

Injury-prone before he even plays in the NFL…

Ochsner doctors strike again!
He won’t play more than 10 out of 17 games

hate this pick so far

I wanted Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah real bad. I liked him a lot in the draft and thought we would have to trade up to get him, but Bam he falls right into our laps and we pass. We never seem to take the linebacker I really like in the first. Damn you Clemson LB whose name escapes me at the moment due to him being such a bum.

If not him Elijah Moore would of been a great pick to add some more speed to the receiver core. I didn’t even know who this guy was cause I didn’t do my usual draft study since I was busy this year. I really looked at corner, receiver, and linebacker in the first. I thought all the 1st round corners were taken except I liked Tyson Campbell out of Georgia. I really liked Kadarius Toney but he was taken. Then I wasn’t sure if any of the first round LBs would be available and the guy I think may end up being the best out the draft falls into our laps and we pass like we did last year with Patrick Queen.

I just really would of liked a potential starter this year with our first round pick and this guy likely will not be unfortunately. Oh well. Hopefully we can get those 3 positions I think we need the most later in the draft. I would love to see us trade up for JOKer like we did with Baun last year, but we have to get a corner & receiver as well so who knows. I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple corners taken

To be honest, there shouldn't even be a "Too Soon To Tell" option haha because it's obviously too soon to tell.

Therefore, the question should just be "how do INITALLY feel about the pick?" I'd like to see the results of those numbers without the obvious "too soon to tell" option

Putting aside the questions of durability and being too tall and low on the learning curve (all of which can become positives), the pick is a good one.
Going by his college play, he is a good and potentially great DE.
There was not an obvious, "no brainer" pick at # 28.
A good DE makes your corners and safeties better, as well as just about every other position on your defense.
Less time for the opposing QB means less time your D is on the field, and therefore more opportunities for your offense.
It's all in the dominoes, my friends.
