Prayers up for Derek Carr [Mod Edit: Derek Carr is week to week with fractured left hand and concussion] (4 Viewers)

Nobody hates Carr, and no one wants him to suffer a serious injury. That said, I'm not satisfied with him as our quarterback.

I'm not satisfied with him to keep him around past next year until we get in position to get someone better (ie: his not our future).....because, at this point, I don't think our future is Haener or Rattler either....maybe that changes....but I think next year he gives us the best chance to win....

Agreed.

He’s not ultimately “it” and neither are Haener/Rattler, but he’s what we’ve got next year.

QB class isn’t that impressive this year. Maybe we bring in a FA QB to compete

I dunno, I've seen some pretty hateful and derogatory comments about Carr at times on this site. So....

Yup, it all started with the whole Chipotle thing, which I could care less about.....Carr is pretty much what I expected, an upgrade over what we had (AD), but not our long term future QB.....I'm fine with him as the starter next year, if you give him a good surrounding cast he will help you win games....

Obviously, you didn't watch much of JH in college, he did more with much less than SR. SR has 1 thing over JH , arm strength. JH makes better decisions is more accurate and anticipates better
Rattler has a bigger arm but other than that they are comparable to each other.

I do not think you can go wrong with either one, but Rattler got the first few starts when Carr went down, so its only fair we get an extended look at Haener.

I feel some Saints fans are too hard on Derek Carr. Fact is, that dude gives his all on that field. He literally gave his body up trying to pick up a critical first down. At first I was just hoping that he just landed hard on the football but upon seeing the replay you knew it was something worse. Hope he's ok.
All the Carr haters will be begging for him with these two back-ups the rest of the way.

I mostly agree but I would like to give Rattler at least one more start with an actual NFL OL and a couple actual NFL receivers. Rattler was out there for 3 games with no interior OL and Tipton and nobody as his WRs once Means got hurt. I'd also like to see how he adjusts after having several weeks to evaluate how he played and what he needs to change.

I'm curious what QB the Carr "nonfans" think we will be able to sign in the offseason that will be an improvement over Carr or will perform on Carr's level for less money?

Sam Darnold will probably get the same money as Carr but he might be better. That's likely the only option out there and I'm not sure he's actually better or cheaper.

I do think Carr is probably the best option for next year but no matter how much someone likes Carr, at his age we need to be really aggressive in finding a younger, better QB to replace him.

But, in the end, I think you let your new HC decide what to do at QB. Maybe he like Carr or maybe he wants to get rid of Carr and go with a cheaper but possibly worse vet while developing a young QB.

I think Darnold get more money than Carr, and I think he's about as good as Carr, he just has gotten to play on a better team than Carr ever did. He's younger than Carr too, having said that I agree we need to find a young QB for the future, Carr is just a bridge QB, any of the FA qbs available are honestly only bridge QBs too.

Well. I’m not quite sure if you were insinuating that I am a “nonfan”, but I think that’s obviously not the case with anyone who thinks Carr probably isn’t the guy who gets us into the playoffs, at least consistently.

I’m not a doctor. But the way he put his left arm out to brace himself is what they teach you not to do if you learn snowboarding or martial arts because you can easily break your wrist or dislocate your shoulder with gravity plus your own body weight.
Funny thing is, as a teen, I attempted to show off in front of some girls, I jumped and ended up dive-bombed from a tall swing and landed on both wrists. Thank God, the only I broke, was my image, because I, puppy dog-bent hands all the way home. Really miraculous, I didn't even sprain anything.

So I went back to his original post, and he/she implied people were shedding tears for Carr when the post he quoted said no such thing. It was a strawman point, and there was no point to the post, at lead not that I could see. Carr is gonna be fine sure. Ain't nobody shedding tears for him either. If fans are upset about the injury, more likely its because the guys behind Carr are not ready to be starters yet and will be tougher to won without him.

It might shock some people to learn we're 5-4 with Carr and 0-4 without him.
In addition to that, the Saints were 9-5 last season in games he started and finished/didn’t leave due to midgame injury.
