Pros and Cons after the 49ers game. (1 Viewer)

Agreed.
I’m hoping he proves me wrong but I have zero expectations with him. His whole tape shows the same thing, cannon arm with bad decision making. Any Mahomes comparisons are beyond delusional, even for here, and that’s saying something. lol
So I'm no expert AT ALL, but there is one thing that seems very similar to Mahomes and it's the way he moves with the ball in his hands and throws it. He moves just like him to ME. I could be wrong, and as I said, I'm no expert, but that's one thing I'll give him is that he seemingly "looks" like him.

Ok. Lets go. Pros: Our first team defense minus some key starters continue to play well. Orji and Rico Payton had a solid game. Penning improve a lot and hope to continue (very happy about this one), running game was ok.

Cons: WR. WR and WR. Gees we have no one after Shaheed. AT Perry can occasionally gives you a few catches here and there but I see a Brandon Coleman clone there. Add to the insult Shaheed in walking boots. No one stood out in this game. Offensive line throughout is still our weakest link. What's up with Lemieux and his snaps today? He is a veterans for sake. None of our back up quarterbacks are ready. Haener in the lead but still. I am not advocating to sign a veteran. Keep both as back up and hope we don't need them to play this year. CB Wright had a terrible game. Foskey still doesn't stand out.

Meh: Payton Turner had some moments to make a play but he needs to finish. Doesn't seem to play with authority.
Pro--Penning looked better, Young looks healthy and disruptive--love Tayson in straight up RB or HB--give the man touches--backup Lbers looked solid
Cons--Left side of OL average at best. Backup Center Lemieux-not good.
disappointed Holker didn't play. Foskey and Turner should only be put in case of emergency--Foskey ineffective

We should sign 49ers punter today

foskey and peyton turner look like busts to me.

I would have liked to see Haener and Rattler with the first string in there.
After all, if your first string QB goes down the backup is in with first string.
One more thing.......Carr said in the interview that we are still not showing what we have. Its preseason.

I’ll probably echo a lot of what was said here prior -

Pros: Taysom Hill is just so much fun to watch. He been a workhorse warrior since day 1 here and I’m so pumped to see what Kubiak will do to get him touches.

Chase Young is insane to watch. He looks like a man among boys out there and I’m really enjoying how happy he seems and how encouraging he seems to be to other players.

The whole team played with energy and focus. We started the game with a false start and then didn’t have a penalty for the next 2.5 quarters.

Cons: o-line is a huge concern but hopefully Kubiak can mask some of it with scheme.

We still seem quite susceptible to mobile QBs. Hopefully that’s another scheming thing that can improve as we get into the season.

Overall, I felt better about this game than I did week 1. I can’t explain it but everything feels just a little bit different. - in a good way. How different? Not sure yet - but it feels like there’s an energy starting to grow and with a really tough stretch to start the season, maybe they’ll be able to hang better than we anticipated.

I also wanted to add-

There are few sights that are more beautiful than the Saints in their white tops and gold pants vs the Niners in their red tops and gold pants playing on grass in the California late afternoon sun. It just brings back so many memories of that rivalry from the 80s and visually there are few matchups that are more esthetically pleasing than that one.

Overall, i think the keyword from last night is improvement. The defense continued to play well but i thought played better than last week. It took a couple of series, but the offense was much improved. The lack of receiving options is certainly showing but the running game was solid. Not a lot of tight end targets from the first team, though that might have been by design. The biggest takeaway, though? Improvement.

The defense especially the secondary will be awesome. Purdy had nowhere to go with the ball and this was with our starting corners out. We've never had this much depth at corner. I hope we can keep Rico Payton.

Nickleback didn’t die for all this Temu Mahomes slander.

Pro: Taysom Hill. Man is up for any and all challenges. I wonder how he would do as a starting quarterback.

Cons: We had an entire offseason to upgrade the oline, and we came away with nothing but failure. Some body(s) are going to get killed behind this line.

Good news: I think the Kubiak-DA pairing could work long term.

Bad news: It'll take a few years (with better drafting...fingers crossed) for us to get back to being a contender.
You mean like drafting Foskey and Penning

Lol Temu Mahomes. It’s weird right. Make a few plays against second stringers and look confident like Mahomes doing it and you are the next Mahomes. Swagger is great and all but doesn’t mean much if you dance in the pocket like you have ants up your pants. I am rooting for the guy but come on.
He was hit a lot. He had reason to dance

Pros: the run game looked amazing. Taysom and Williams were a good tandem. I’m excited to see AK in this new system. Penning looked better. I’m not an expert on O line play but he seemed much more comfortable last night.

The defense is legit. They’re good on all three levels. Breese and Young looked to feed off each other and that D line could be ferocious this year. The LBs are solid even with DD and Pete not playing. Same with the secondary.

Cons: we are super thin across the board on offense. No depth at the line, RB, TE, or WR. Definireky need more playmakers at skill positions.

I have forgotten what a run for over 30 yards looks like….feels like it’s been years since it’s happened.
Last one by an RB was Kamara in the 2021 season, in week 17 against the Panthers. We had four 30+ yard runs in 2022, but three were Taysom Hill and the other was Rashid Shaheed.

Longest RB run last year was 19 yards by Tony Jones in week two against the Panthers. Longest run was 29 yards by Lynn Bowden against the Falcons in week 12.
