I just got back in town and WOW!!!! That is a ton of money but I would rather shell it out then stand pat. However does anybody think this spells the end for Deuce? We could free up alot of that money in Deuce's contract to pay Samuels contract. I hope not because I love the Deuce but it is something to think about
What? MM will not be a safety. He is a solid man CB. It would be crazy to attempt to move him to safety.

Deuce's contract figure is already considered into our cap space.. I doubt signing or not signing Samuel would have an effect on Deuce's status.. That will come down to whether the team thinks he can recover from the injury and whether he actually does.. Deuce may have to re-work his contract but it won't be b/c of signing Samuel..
Saints in Lead to Sign Asante Samuel

New England Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel is less than 48 hours away from becoming an unrestricted free agent, and the New Orleans Saints are the early favorites to sign him. In fact, some league observers believe the Saints and Samuel's agent have already engaged in some early (and technically against the rules) contract negotiations that could land Samuel in New Orleans before the weekend is over.
Fox Sports reports that the Saints are in the lead to give Samuel the contract of $10 million to $11 million a year that he seeks. Pro Football Talk reports that there's talk in league circles that the deal has already been worked out.
A shutdown cornerback is the Saints' highest priority this off-season. New Orleans had the worst pass defense in the league last season, and that was the biggest reason the Saints declined from the NFC Championship Game to missing the playoffs. Having Samuel cost $10 million a year or more against the salary cap is an awfully big investment and probably too much money, but it's better than standing pat.

Florence is a backup at best. With Young pretty much unproven at Corner and MM approaching retirement we need to look for a starter, not another backup. DRC on the other hand... is another animal entirely!

You have more then 2 CB's on the field alot. Florence was good enough to play the nickel behind two great CB's in SD. I'm sure he is good enough to do that here.
Which is exactly why I listed him at the 5 spot.......:dunno: That group right there would be in the top 5-10 in the league. If you expect better than that, you are being unrealistic.
Also, there will be a 6 CB, I just didn't add one because who knows what round we will adress our second CB, or first for that matter, in the draft. I would love....
Samuels
MM
U. Young
David
DRC - draft
Chevis Jackson - draft
