Rumor- "samuel Said To Be A "done Deal"" (1 Viewer)

Since we aren't the New York Jets there is zero chance the New England Patriots will level tampering charges on us.

If this is true.

This could also be a rumor Samuel's agent is putting out in order to drive up the bidding. Stay calm, stay skeptical :)

Yeah, hard to know if it's true or not.

But, I would like to know you opinion on Samuel converting to a man to man corner. Obviously it did not work well with David, but I'd have to think that Samuel's ball skills will translate. Do you think he can make the transition?

i hope mckenzie comes back real well. i think he is a good corner for us and will be missed if he doesnt start. i think making david as a nickle corner is a good idea. i think david is a great Cb under 20 yards.

Well I made a fool of myself speculating on Jason David, so i'm not sure how much weight my opinion really carries there.

That said, I don't know. I'm not entirely sure we're going to continue to play so much man-to-man anyways (though we're not going to go to a pure Tampa-2 type defensive philosophy). Actually, I'm not so sure we played as much man-to-man last year as we did in 2006 or as people seem to assume.

Either way, physically I don't see why he can't do most anything. I'm not sure he's worth $100 million as a press-man CB though, his strength clearly seems to be facing the QB playing the ball.

I've always thought we should sign Samuels in the offseason, and from what I read on the pats board he is a strictly man on man cover corner. I think he is good but will get beat deep because the real problem is our safety deep coverage. I kind of liked that guy from ND in the combine that told John Lot not to call him Rudy.

Right. I was wondering earlier what I'd want the Saints to do if Dorsey/Ellis fell and DRC was on the board. This makes my decision easier.
If Dorsey/Ellis is on the board you take either one. Increasing the pass rush will result in more TO's because we know Asante likes to jump routes.

st. james --- lol @ the avatar

don't smoke me folks .......... some of Asante's success due to Bellicheats signal stealing ? --- don't get me wrong, I would be happy to get him. ---- not trying to be Debbie downer. .... opinions ?

FINALLY does our d-fence have a chance at being great if we get the right players like Samuel we are going to be unstoppable now all we need is LB's and DT:highfive:

john 1 29...hopefully that didn't have any effect. I'm thinkin Asante is just really good at what he does. I can't tell ya'll how excited I am reading each post! I remember joking with my friends about landing him and if we do...man...there's no telling what kind of celebration moves I'll be bustin out.

Well that's definitely where I am now. But before the Asante rumor, I wasn't very big on potentially having a Jason David/Usama Young/Jason Craft cornerback corps.

Grant/Thomas/10th pick (Balmer Ellis or Dorsey)/Smith
Fujita/????/40th pick (Crable or Adibi)
Samuels/Harper/Kaesviharn/McKenzie
If we can fill in the ???? we can actually go BPA starting in the 3rd. This offseason may be one to remember. And remember, a LB picked between #10 and #42 has won DROY 8 of the last 11 years. Should be our turn.
