Saints 1st pick 2024 (1 Viewer)

Wake up boys! You can get a good look at the Saints 2024 1st round pick tonight by watching the NCG! He pretty much checks every box they look for in a DE… except he doesn’t have an extensive injury history. He’s big, a technically sound, powerful, quick… but not fast enough to catch a running QB (that’s a key!)

With their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select:

Bralen Trice, DE, University of Washington
Hellye! Latu, Trice & Tuimoloau are my fav EDGE players in this draft. Trice is literally a Cam Jordan clone. Love the relentlessness & speed to power. That being said, as much as i love me some Bralen Trice, 14 may be a bit too rich. Id personally be all good w/the pick, but ill admit that 14 is kind of early to draft Trice. Especially when OT, WR & CB/DB will be loaded between picks & 20.

I will only agree to this if they trade next year's first round pick to move up to pick him, as is custom.

Do NOT allow whomever picked Davenport Turner and Foskey anyhwere near the war room if it’s an edge. Please for the love of God.

If it’s a tackle I hope it’s Folisholulolol from Ohio State or Alt. Latham wouldn’t be bad either.
Sign Josh Uche, develop Foskey, return Turner.

Keep building up Turner & Foskey for sure. Especially Turner. When that dudes on the field, he makes plays worthy of his 1st RD pedigree. Sucks that he’s never EVER available. If Turner can stay healthy, i think the guy can be similar to, if not better than Granderson.

Uche’s a pressure specialist for sure, & we desperately need a guy that does exactly what he does. But id personally prefer us target a guy like Dorance Armstrong or AJ Epenesa. They can both rush the passer, too, & D the run. Plus, i like the long term starting potential of Armstrong & Epenesa over Uche.

Can't have too many Iowa guys at the big boy positions.

I'm sure with Ram having to retire, they'll be salivating over Joe Alt and Olumuyiwa Fashanu, but no way either of them will be available. Don't be shocked to to see them pick Amarius Mims out of Georgia (or JC Latham out of Bama if Mims is gone) if they stay at 14.

As for QB, I don't any of the ones that wow the FO (and us fans) will be available, either (basically JD 5 and Williams). If Drake Maye's stock continues to be as high as it is, one of them might drop enough to trade up for, but I doubt it. After those two, I don't think I'd take a QB at 14. I think Penix just played himself out of being a top 15 pick, maybe even played himself right out of the first round. Bo Nix is a big no for me, nor would I pick McCarthy anywhere in the first round. I can see using maybe a second, certainly a third on him, but he is a project. I wouldn't pick Nix, period.

As for WR, I think with Olave, Shaheed, and Perry, the OT, EDGE rusher, and LB positions are bigger needs so unless Odunze or Nabers miraculously fell that far, I can't see them using the pick for that position.

Of course, people will move up and down between now and then, but right now, I expect the pick to be either Mims, Latham, or Jared Verse from Florida State. Those are relatively safe picks at positions we need.

As long as they don't trade up for Drake Maye or some OT no one has ever heard of...

Saints are replacing Michael Thomas. Keon Coleman or Malik Nabers will be the pick.
Personally i’d love to get Nabers or Coleman, but listening to dennis allen’s press conference today, he seems really high on AT Perry.
