Saints and Carr deal released $150M over 4 years $100M fully guaranteed (2 Viewers)

copied this from the Jets forum, its rough to be a Jets fan right now

His tone changed quickly. A few weeks ago, he said Carolina was the right fit.
I’ve always viewed Colin like this. He grew up and started his career during the Meacom days. He’s seen the worst this franchise has brought. It’s always been sort of a “prove it to me” with the Saints for him.

That's true

From the article:

"So while it’s technically a four-year, $150 million deal, it’s at best a three-year, $100 million deal. The fourth year is a device aimed simply at driving the average from $33.3 million per year to $37.5 million — since he reportedly was looking for at least $35 million per year.

The contract could be as short as two years and $70 million, with the final $10 million being subject to offset in 2025."

Bingo. This is what I was looking for. Gives flexibility to the saints just in case he underperforms. It’s basically a 2 year deal

Signing bonus: $28.5 million.

Ah c'mon Loomis, missed opportunity there

Am I correct on this point? Derek Carr does not factor into the Comp Pick formula for the 2024 draft because he was Released by the Raiders and therefore was not a Free Agent during the Free Agency period and his contract does not count towards the Comp Pick formula for 2024. I think I am correct on this. If so, it will be interesting to see if the Saints lose some free agents and if the formula can work in our favor for the 2024 draft.

The "I called it!" thread that was started last night about Carr leaning to the Jets was deleted. It also contained a lot more "I told you so - the Saints aren't desirable to players" posts. Less than 12 hours later, Carr decides to sign with the Saints and Cowherd is chiming in about the Saints having a good, solid front office. Now, granted, I think Cowherd's take was more about bashing the Raiders organization by praising the Saints. Nonetheless, the Saints organization is not the dumpster fire that many are claiming.

Welcome aboard, Mr. Carr.
