Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (7 Viewers)

While I like Campbell , I'm really starting to not like the Lions. With Goff saying he's not sorry about the ridiculous no-call and pretentious St. Brown and his Dad dissing our Saints I hope they are 1 and done
But why should he be sorry?

Disagree with almost every one of those points TBH, except that it's up to the Raiders more than Adams. And they aren't good enough to care about it being an AFC team.

To your other points, he'll want to go where the money is good enough and he plays with whichever team he thinks can win a championship in the two relatively effective years of football he has left. The fan factor stuff is just fan hype.
The Jets media and fans are a consideration point, albeit small, but part of the big picture. What works against NOLA being his next team choice, is when Adams and Carr were at the Raiders, they still lost. (insert 10 excuses) However, he can probably only think of good things of his time w/ Rogers. Both teams need him, and both coaching staffs should be all-in to save their jobs. Check. Some Jet fan made a fun point, "Adams to the Jets for one year to finish off Rogers career, then he becomes a free agent, then goes to the Saints and finishes off Carr's career." Regardless where he chooses to go, I just want this to be over ASAP. Its becoming a distraction.

that would be cool. i dont see it as a distraction. its been like 3 days since they said hed entertain a trade. and its not like saints players are sitting their fantasizing over having him on the team. theyre at work, working. we're fans, we can sit and wonder what would happen if he was here and we had 3 decent receivers.

That quote makes me smile, thanks for sharing.

Just heard on Sirius that Adams said wants to go to the Jets. The Raiders said they would accommodate if they can strike a deal with the Jets that makes sense for them.
Yep. This thread title says "Saints At The TOP" but it doesn't mean the Saints are at the Very Top of Adams so called Wish List. Rapoport says Jets are Top of his list.

First of all, I don't think Adams has a "No Trade Clause" in his current contract. However, if he's not willing to restructure future years in order to be traded to certain teams that could be a deal killer. The Raiders have said they are open to eating some of his contract. They could take that route to command a higher draft pick.

The Jets have room on their cap to bring Adams on board. However, they may want to let those cap dollars roll over to 2025 instead of spending them now. They also may want to hold on to future high draft picks, those which could be building blocks for the future while under cheap contracts.

Raiders WR Davante Adams hopes to be traded to Jets but is open to other destinations

If Davante Adams gets his wish, he'll eventually be a member of the New York Jets, playing with his friend and four-time NFL Most Valuable Player, Aaron Rodgers.

In fact, according to sources informed of Adams' thinking, he is open to playing for several other teams. The New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and perhaps the San Francisco 49ers are among teams that either have inquired about the six-time Pro Bowler or are places Adams would be happy landing.

While the Raiders could trade Adams to the Jets, they will do what's best for their organization, sources say, including taking the best deal from the highest bidder. While players generally have some semblance of control -- in this case, Adams would have to rework his contract to facilitate a trade -- he is not in total control of where he ends up.

The Raiders are looking for at least a second-round pick as compensation for Adams, who originally drew a first- and second-round pick in a 2022 trade from the Packers. Adams, the former All-Pro, would be the highest profile player currently on the trade market.

Adams' preferred destinations each have short- and long-term implications. For instance, a trade to the Jets would reunite him with Rodgers, but for how long?

Rodgers, 40, has indicated he’ll play beyond this season, though not for much longer. Adams, 31, clearly believes he has several seasons of good football left in him.

As it stands now, Adams has a base salary of nearly $17 million in 2024 -- about $1 million per game.

His $35.6 million salary in 2025 would need to be reworked by the Raiders or his next team.

Foskey and maybe Warner, but Kool Aid, Alonte Taylor, Erik McCoy, Marcus Williams, Michael Thomas are the other 2nd rounders in recent years.

I dont think overall I would say they were "so bad"

I'm not sure how anyone could consider Werner a bad pick. He's been a solid, if unspectacular, starter for several years and he earned a second contract. That's excellent value for a second sound pick. I'd like to see him take his game up a level to make more plays, but he's pretty good WLB.

I said "maybe" cause I was trying figure out why he things "we are bad at 2nd rounders" but I agree

A distraction for who?

So how many all-pro O linemen have asked for a trade right now?
Not All Pro, I would take a JAG that was average in the run and pass. If he was competent and could hold a pass block for 3 seconds. That would work for me.

The problem is teams aren’t making starting caliber OL available unless their OL is deep. They’d deplete their own OL depth and become thin for a possible early draft pick who can’t play on their line during the season after sending a good OL out.

We already have multiple JAG interior OL who are serviceable level in the run and pass, sometimes good in some weeks because of the scheme. OL who are currently available for trade probably aren’t better than who we have. OL trades aren’t happening unless it’s guys who move the needle or if there’s two OL starters missing extended time in McCoy’s timetable.

Adams is a unique trade situation because he wants out of Vegas and he’d elevate the Saints thin receiving options. Saints showed prior interest. Teams have to be willing to shop players around like Adams or a John Ridgeway for trades to come to life at other positions.

Gotta do something to save the season. Ive said it before, but the future is over rated in the NFL.

No one in the NFL is promised a future, only the present.

We as fans are only promised the present season. No garauntees of a next one.
