Because he and the Rams then went on to score a whopping 3 points in the Super Bowl? But why should he be sorry?
It's all about energy and timing. The Saints didn't necessarily fail, it wasn't supposed to happen. It either wasn't ultimately right for the player or the team. I have a far differnet feeling about this one, it will happen. Right player, right time, right scenario.I’ve seen these trade sweepstakes situations in the past. The Saints are always second choice. We’re just there for competition to raise asking price.
I just don't know how to feel about this. Part of me says to hell with it, yolo, let's get him. That's the emotional Who Dat in me. Real life Madden baby! Let's go! Davante Adams is awesome!
But the rational side of me is like, what are we talking about right now? How is this a thing? This isn't Madden. We can't be out there making trades willy nilly. Our cap is a wreck and I don't think this will help. Davante Adams is great and all but if our O line can't protect Carr then how much of a difference can a WR make?
So I've prepared two reactions. If we do indeed trade for Adams it will be the single greatest trade in Saints history. We got him for a bargain when you really think about it. The NFC is wide open and with Adams we could very well win the whole damn thing.
If he goes somewhere else then thank god. We dodged a bullet on this one. They gave up way too much for a 31 year old WR on a mega deal. Once again some team saved the Saints from themselves. With our O line issue we were going to be a legitimate contender.
It's always interesting for me to witness people being stingy about money that isn't theirs. It's right up there w/ listening to a person spend "if I won the lottery" money.Salary cap space has yet to win a Superbowl. I don't know why so many fans fetishize it. Cap space is not a replacement for good good players and it doesn't directly lead to good players. It just sounds cool in theory and but it's nothing to get excited over.
It has nothing to do with being stingy with other people's money. If there were not a salary cap, I would bet most couldn't care less how much he cost. However, there is the reality of a cap and the implications past this season that I have seen people concerned about. It's always interesting for me to witness people being stingy about money that isn't theirs. Saints O-Line is tied 1st in least sacks allowed. They’re top 10 in least pressures allowed. Saints are running the ball successfully. We’re repeating that the O-Line has issues but they aren’t having major issues in performance.I just don't know how to feel about this. Part of me says to hell with it, yolo, let's get him. Unless his 2nd father can convince him to take a reworked deal for way less money, not sure that much matters. The jets don't have Keith Williams , Adams's 2nd father
Adams contract is set up for him to be cut after this year. This trade would be for a one year rental + the chance to renegotiate a new contract. But the rational side of me is like, what are we talking about right now? How is this a thing? This isn't Madden. Exactly the bolded. Only way I can see him coming here is if the relationship is so ruined with the raiders they would agree to eat some of the money AND we have a gentleman’s agreement with him to re-work his contract in the offseason that is more than just adding voided years. We have to start getting away from that.Adams contract is set up for him to be cut after this year. This trade would be for a one year rental + the chance to renegotiate a new contract.
There is a 0% chance we could afford him next year under his current contract.

I think that was a Jets fan X account fabricating a 3 team trade idea and passing it off as legit news. It’s kind of easy to get people to believe based on the needs of the teams involved. 3 team deal rarely happens in the NFL, especially a big trade.Don’t like the possibility of losing out on Adams to the Jets and the Falcons getting pass rusher in that three team deal that’s been mentioned.
