I feel like the Saints are the most likely team to meet the Raiders' asking price of a 2nd round pick. The Jets have 2 3rd round picks and don't need the Raiders to retain salary since they're like 17M under the cap (vs 3-4M for the Saints). Could see them trying to get him with a 3rd vs us offering a 2nd and asking the Raiders to convert some of his base salary into a bonus and paying it.
I've seen this movie play out too many times. For my hearts sake, I'm gonna pretend like we have no shot..“Most aggressive” makes me think we are coming in with the strongest bid, potentially. Hopefully we aren’t just being used as leverage though.
Agents/teams like to strategically leak these things to the likes of Ian.
I think that was a Jets fan X account fabricating a 3 team trade idea and passing it off as legit news. It’s kind of easy to get people to believe based on the needs of the teams involved. 3 team deal rarely happens in the NFL, especially a big trade.
We've seen this so many times. I would love to get Davante Adams, but 1. we have to extend Kamara first to free up money and 2. we would have to get the Raiders to eat like $10m to make it work. It's not impossible but there are other teams with fewer hurdles who want him too.
Wasn’t it the Texans who sent a second to the Browns to take Osweiler a few years ago, to get his $$$ off their books? As jdpower surmised, perhaps this is why we are being the most aggressive. We need them to eat money to facilitate the deal, so our offer, in terms of pick compensation, may very well be the best when all is said and done.
Thank goodness for that pertaining to the Watson trade.I’ve seen these trade sweepstakes situations in the past. The Saints are always second choice. We’re just there for competition to raise asking price.
