Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (4 Viewers)

The receivers are winning their routes it's just that Carr has to heave it up over his back foot. He made some good throws considering that pressure, but he also threw a bad interception because of it. Maybe Adams catches one of those balls and it would have been an amazing catch, but it would not have changed this game. This offense will be better based on if the OL gets healthy and they can run the ball. Hopefully McCoy comes back in 6 weeks and is fine. Hopefully Patrick end up being fine. Hopefully Ruiz comes back soon and is fine. But that's a lot of things we hope works out and we have 2 games in the next 9 days. Who knows what the injury report will be for this week.

Yes they scored 90 points in the first two games, but they did that because they could run the ball. And, if they can score 90 points in two games by running the ball with a healthy OL, Olave, and Shaheed, why would we need to spend a bunch of future assets on Adams?
Love the post but just want to point out that Carr isn’t throwing off his back foot all because of the blocking. I mean it is probably a flinch like reaction because of a 250 plus lineman coming at him but ultimately he could probably move and sling it with his feet planted. We have seen the best to ever do it in a Saints uniform and maybe of all time.

In reality his backfoot stuff is cumulative. He's played a lot of football and has developed tendencies in how he reacts to pressure. It's all on his tape from his entire career. In a perfect world he'd be able to have a short memory and go back to fundamentals. In reality, he reacts poorly to pressure up the middle. So when you sign a guy like that the coaches have to build things to highlight his best parts and hide his bad parts. They have not done so.

The Saints have not done anything like that for Carr like they did for Drew. Drew had one of the best interior lines to ever play. They gave Drew a clean pocket to step into when outside pressure came and they gave him throwing lanes that covered for his shorter stature. If he had to play behind this line, he wouldn't be very good either. We even saw that his last couple of years.

I agree mostly but Drew made the o line look good just as much as they did for him. Look at what Jayden Daniels is doing with Virtual Reality and practicing reps and think about how Drew did the same except without VR.

There are things Carr could probably do to anticipate pressure and compensate for o line weaknesses but really that skillset as a whole seems to be rare.

At this point Saints should be trading players for draft picks.

This team is never going to get any better.

A overhaul of the coaching staff is needed.

I doubt any of this is going to happen. We are going to hear at the end of the season, bring it back for one more year.

An Overhaul should have been started a long time ago

Nothing is ever a done deal , I just point out how much sense it makes getting Adams. If we had Kubiak last yr we would have won the south. I'll even say undeniable. I have laid out what I think is a 2-3 yr window for some of our best players and then they are gone. Adams while being 31 still has at least 2-3 yrs left at a high level due to the fact that speed is not his greatest weapon, route running, getting open and contested catches are. And that's EXACTLY the kind of guy we need, we already have speed in Rasheed.

So just what team in the NFC IS 1 -2 players away from a SB?? What HAS put us a lot closer to being a SB contender is Kubiak. Even with all the injuries on the OL and TH the offense gave us the lead in the final mins of our 2 losses
Our OL WILL get healthy and we most likely will get back closer to how they played in the 1st 2 games.
If we are able to land Adams we have guarded against being lost if Olave goes down. Also getting Tay makes us the fav to win the south.
As far as next yr and 26 ?? We get OL help with our 1st next yr and use our 3rd on a pass rusher. If we hit even just them being good, we are one of the favorites to make it to the NFCCG
THAT"S a scenario I can see, CAP be damned

Looking at this team that has needs on the offensive and defensive line there is no way I give up anymore than a 3rd for Adams…..there are 2 teams in our own division right now that maybe closer than we are at this point….IMO

The D stunk last night….pass rush was nonexistent….and the vaunted secondary got torched….and we are pretty healthy on that side of the ball…..

Big fan of both teams. If he goes to the Jets he’s gonna be in the same situation he’d be in here. They’re not very good either.

I predict that A-A-Ron hangs em up before the end of the season.
I do find it funny how there was no Rogers is washed narrative before the season started. Meanwhile with Brees it was a well discussed topic.

As for the the Jets i never believed Rogers made them a SuperBowl Contender, at best i thought he made them a 6th or 7th seeded team. The Jets have ok talent and a terrible coach Salah.

The Shanahan coaching tree is looking bad this year.

Agreed on all points.
At this rate I bet Aaron retires before the end of the season. They also have o line and TE issues as we do.

And just who predicted we would play like we did the first 2 game of the yr? We are 2 DB's running into each other and a DPI in the final mins of 2 games away from being 4-0 ' LOL ALL of the St Browns are pretentious blow hards. Amon is talented but a major diva. Kubiak is the piece that puts us much much closer to being a contender and we need to take advantage of that along with some of our best players having a 2-3 yr window and then they are gone
And I was only two numbers away from winning the Power Ball.

The point is the Saints are 2-3. We can "If' and "but" it all day long but the Saints are who they are. Kubiak is, so far, okay in my eye. The offense is a bit better compared to Pete Carmichael but he is not the piece. This team needs a lot of help. A LOT of help and it starts with a better head coach. This team is NOWHERE near contending for anything resembling a playoff spot. Amon is unfortunately right. We, as fans, may not want to admit it but he's right. The Saints window is shut. It's a bitter pill to swallow but it is shut.

The window has been shut for years now. Only the most delusional refuse to see that.
