Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (110 Viewers)

I think every philosophy involves tweaking. I agree on the planet theory for DT's, however the 6'5 270 lb DL used to be more of a rare occurence, and so it made sense philosophically to put a premium on those guys. Remember back when we used a 6th rounder on Rufus Johnson? That was a time where you might find 3-4 of those guys in the draft, so you took a shot.

Now, they are a pretty common sight, but the "rush specialist" role is now expanding where team would be smart to have a guy who does just that. Those guys come in diff shapes and sizes. Look at guys like Haason Reddick...

I absolutely think there should be a tweak in edge rushers, but not necessarily those dancing bear DT's. Those guys are worth their weight in gold.

Everything happens as it should.

That's a fair point. And really I just want to find a way to use guys like Reddick and other quick but not big pass rushers. With fast short passes being in vogue in the NFL it's just hard for those big DEs to have time to get to the QB. They need to find a way to get pressure up the middle with DT penetration or guys who can blitz up the middle or come really fast from the Edge.

We also need to make 3cone time a premium, there's a correlation w/ guys having 3cone times under 7.1 who translate as passrushers in the NFL.

Didn't make much sense for the Saints after the last couple of games. Lose Thurs night and the wheels are fully off instead of wobbling. It isn't good that some in the local media thought the Defense basically quit in the 4th qtr after taking a 2nd and 3rd glance at the tape.

As I stated on another post no one except maybe the Saints were willing to give the Jets a no. 2. and I don’t think that was even the case. It’s obvious the Raiders just wanted to get rid of Adams as they are picking up his entire salary.

Could easily replace “Raiders” with “Saints.” After these last couple weeks, it’s obvious where we are

The only reason the talking heads are talking about a Jets window is because Rodgers is on the team and was once great for another team. They're 2-4 just like us. There is no window, it's a brick wall with a window painted on it.

I thought that watching it live.

True, but I would say you could also replace "Raiders" with "Jets". I know they kind of have to go all in after signing Rodgers, but that team does not look like it's close to competing for the AFC East much less the Super Bowl any time soon. They just fired their HC that's generally not a sign that you are close. I think the Jets window is already closed.
