Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (5 Viewers)

So yeah, the Saints need to just stop drafting first round edge rushers. lol
The problem is they keep trying to find Cam Jordan-types in the draft. Meanwhile, Cam Jordan is incredibly unique. Rarely do you find a guy who can stop the run on a consistent basis as well as get double digit sacks.

So the FO made a good decision? That's not possible right?
Good decision ? How? We lack a third receiver and our top receiver is concussed. Compensation was only a conditional third for a receiver who has 5 consecutive seasons between 1100 to 1500 yards even with suspect QB play. Minus the cap space how is that a win. What third round pick is going to be able to give you production like that. Possible but extremely highly unlikely.

Sorry, but was a conditional 3rd and ALL of his salary, we were not even close to being able to afford that

Their first round pick success rate starting at Ireland's first full class actually looks insane if you get rid of the edge rushers. Without Davenport and Turner the list goes...

Fuaga
Bresee
Olave
Penning
Ruiz
Lattimore
Ramcyzk
Rankins

Yeah, but the problem is that missing on those Edge rushers has really cost this team. Especially given the picks they used to get up for Davenport.

You cannot just ignore the "Cap Space" variable! It was impossible for us to match that offer and it would have just led to a continuing process of over paying an aging player. A situation that many, MANY people here like to point out as one of Loomis' failed strategies.

Thank-you Loomis, for NOT Makin' it Happen!

A contract restructure. Who'd a thunk it?
The key is that he agreed to the restructure with the Jets. They are still paying the entire salary this year, just in the form of moving most to a signing bonus, which pushes more cap hit to the future. The Raiders did not absorb that hit. Not something this team needs to be doing.

Do you know what that contract restructure looks like? My guess is some of his salary being pushed into a signing bonus that they're going to eat next year when they have $55 million in cap space.

Despite your smart remarks, I'm sure you know which team couldn't do that.

Didn't make much sense for the Saints after the last couple of games. Lose Thurs night and the wheels are fully off instead of wobbling. It isn't good that some in the local media thought the Defense basically quit in the 4th qtr after taking a 2nd and 3rd glance at the tape.
I'm w/ Jordan and Allen, I don't think they quit, they just likely realized things were futile on top of being gassed.

I don't believe they quit either. The defense was under manned and gassed by the 4th quarter. We can't keep sustaining injuries on offense and defense and think we can keep performing consistently. We have no time for all of these players to develop any kind of cohesiveness. Especially on the O-Line.
