Saints expected to be very interested in former Packers/Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy [McCarthy will interview early next week] (91 Viewers)

Man I’ll tell you what…if McCarthy and Zimmer indeed are a package, McCarthy has catapulted himself to being my #1 guy.

He may already be it; this just 100% solidifies it.
Even if it's not Zimmer, McCarthy's long tenure in the league as a successful head coach and coordinator would provide an expansive network of potential candidates to fill out a quality support staff. It's just another feather in his cap especially when compared to the likes of Kafka, Moore, ect. Aspiring assistants want to know they'll be part of a successful program that gets to the playoffs more often than not, where they'll be put into the spotlight to enhance their own profile.

Bring CMM home.

So, if I understand you correctly, you want a hot, fit guy to be coach? A guy who excites you to look at and who intrigues you with his firey personality and devil-may-care attitude?

Yes, I'll take the 2006 Sean Payton prototype, which compares to the best young coaches in the game today and totally fits the Saints current entropic culture. Get me a fresh young mind, hungry to win and earn.

Mike is a lazy and safe hire from yesteryear. How does he relate to and inspire the young players today for a shared mission? How is he in any way a culture fit? He's got the same befuddled body language as Dennis, who was a skinny retread.

Randy Mueller, Mickey Loomis and Mike Mccarthy. Trying to resurrect the dynasty that was the 2001-2003 Saints. What a time to be alive that we want to relive those great memories.

Mickey Loomis is trying to make being a Saints fan miserable.

For some fans, it's not really that hard to make them miserable.

What if McCarty goes on Ozempic and gets his hair cut by the same guy as McVay? Would that make him sexy enough for you?

Love is love, man. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Fun fact - Mike McCarthy has had only five losing seasons in his 18 year head coaching career…

2008: GB 6-10
2017: GB 7-9
2018: GB 4-7-1 (fired)
2020: DAL 6-10
2024: DAL 7-10

In 2017, his starting QB Aaron Rodgers missed significant time due to injury, playing in only 7 games.

In each of this two losing seasons in Dallas, 2020 and 2024, his starting QB Dak Prescott missed significant time, playing in only 5 games in ‘20 and 8 games in ‘24.

So, 18 seasons, 5 losing seasons, 3 of which involved him not having his starting QB for more than half of the season.

This guy is a flat-out winner, knows how to build a program, and I want him to be our head coach.
I would also add that 2008 was Rodgers' first season as a starter, so growing pains were inevitable.

The fact that fans are settling for this is even more wild to me. Shouldn't surprise me, honestly. Can't wait for the wonderful McCarthy Era of Haslett tier Saints football. Hope this is what y'all really want.

The overreactions to the thought of hiring a guy with a career .608 winning percentage and a Super Bowl win are hilarious. You would think we were thinking about hiring DA back instead of a likely Hall of Fame head coach with a nearly identical record to Sean Payton.

The only reason the Cowboys won that many games under McCarthy is because of Dan Quinn and his defense. The offense has been terrible outside of a few games where they beat up on sub .500 teams. That’s supposed to be McCarthy’s calling card. That’s a red flag IMO.
I was going to say something similar. I like McCarthy, but he needs god coordinators to mke itwork.
