Loomis being the executor of Gayle Benson's will almost guarantees he doesn't get fired, not in the normal sense of getting fired anyway. More than likely he will move to a different executive role on the business side or he will be allowed to retire

Loomis deserves some credit. He was fond of Allen, and believed he was a good successor. Sometimes our beliefs can be so entrenched that they are hard to see past, combine that w/ ego and Loomis could have held on to this belief for another year.
