to be fair, reports are Gayle did it. Not Loomis.
This is what makes me believe that Loomis will follow. If not soon at the end of the season. Personally I would just cut bait now and let everyone know you are blowing it up. As long as there is a sniff that Loomis will hang around it will continue to look like we’re just going to kick the can down the road.

He was our defensive backs coach for the Super Bowl run. Tracy Porter, Malcolm Jenkins and Jabari Greer's coach. DBs coach was always the best place for him and what he is best at. Even this season.
Thank you for not mentioning the guy who shall not be named. May he rot forever.

Yeah, I know. Which is why I said it was a joke. He may have learned from that experience and from working under Payton. But I don't want another retread as a head coach. The one exception I might make is Kingsbury but only because I think he was wrongly fired and he is doing a great job with Jayden Daniels.

Plus I've always been amused that a Louisiana legend QB at Shaw turned into a top defensive coordinator.
Yeah Kyler is not that good. I think his drive is questionable and his leadership is poor.

I'm not sure how much good it would do to fire Loomis now. It's not like you are going to hire a new GM mid-season because nobody is going to let their guys interview mid-season. It could also be that the plan is to move Loomis to another position so it would make sense to do that at the end of the season.

Or, this was just a warning shoot for Loomis that he either starts doing a better job or he is next.

Understood. I don't want Kingsbury either. I don't agree that he was wrongly fired in Arizona. He was a rush hire and the results showed it. He's at best a coordinator and at worst a QB coach. He's no HC.

Except some of our worst turns have come by DB's flying in with crappy technique. They look like Naruto coming in for armless tackles and it can be seen as far back as the Minny Miracle. That says basics aren't required or stressed.

He seemed to be making that terrible Arizona team better every year and even got them to the playoffs in his third year. The year he got fired was the year he lost Murray for almost the entire year.

I'm not saying he's near the top of my list, but he's an interesting option. But I don't know if he has the personality to be a head coach.

Williams was a rookie and got caught thinking about not committing a penalty instead of just playing. The same guy went on to be good enough at Safety that we couldn't afford to keep him.

Overall, we have had very good coverage while DA was coach. Even while having some terrible pass rushers.

Saints have some trades to finalize tomorrow, before they let Loomis go. Loomis gone on Wednesday, LOL.

In all seriousness, I think you are correct. Loomis been here 23 years and has been quite valuable to the Saints organization through that time. He's fantastic with the operational side of the business, and the financial side, but sorely lacking in the personnel skills. When CSP left, Loomis was exposed for those shortcomings.

DA had to go, because there's no way to demote a HC and have a new guy take charge. That's a recipe to split the locker room, unless the HC is HATED that much; and you don't wait this long to fire a guy who's hated that much. GM is a different dynamic. It's easy enough to "promote" them out of the GM position, especially when you're nearing "retirement age" and have served the organization well over your tenure.

At this point, Mrs. Benson is doing the things normally required of a GM, so I find it curious that ML isn't doing these things. I'm speculating that he's focused on the Tuesday trade deadline, and that he'll be transitioned out of GM by end of season. Probably already "out", in practice, but not official until end of season. Khai Harley is literally the SAME GUY as ML, and I'll bet he can do everything that ML can do for the remainder of the season. Between Ireland, Mueller, and Harley, the GM responsibilities can be divvied up and/or assumed. But the fact that we're hearing reports that the OWNER reached out to players; and the OWNER traded e-mails with players; and the OWNER fired DA....these are ALL jobs I would expect the GM to do. Considered collectively, this indicates to me that ML was "iced out". Time will tell.
