Saints losing College Scouting Director to the Broncos for a personnel VP role (1 Viewer)

Anyway, I find it hard to believe that the scouts were telling him that Penning was going to be a bust or was really a 6th round pick and he ignored them and took him in the middle of the first. Maybe it happened, but it seems unlikely given the way Loomis, Ireland, and Payton have always described the draft process as being collective with the scouts.

I'm not saying it definitely happened but I don't find it hard to believe.....at all....

Ok late in 2021, PFN Chief Draft Analyst Tony Pauline reported that some scouts already had Penning rated as the top tackle in the class. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/...-trevor-penning-be-ot1-in-the-2022-nfl-draft/

So it's not like the Saints were the only team that thought Penning would pan out many other did also. But it's still early with him. You never know.

I agree, again, Pennings measurables were lights out good. The athletic ability is there and he's only 24.....I hope he gets up to speed this off season, we will see...

There goes Duncan again just being a mouth piece for the team trashing a guy on his way out to justify losing him. Wait? Oh?
How did Duncan trash Rager? He was just explaining that Rager would’ve became our main college scouting director if Ireland became a GM elsewhere. Ireland wasn’t hired as GM after his GM interviews with teams. And Rager couldn’t wait on Ireland leaving while Denver had a promoted position opened for Rager. I don’t see any trashing or slight there at all. Duncan stated a succession plan that was in place.

I guess Monday isn't a good day for humor.

Got me! I missed the sarcasm at the end of @St. Widge post. Almost thought that was piggybacking off of Thomas randomly scapegoating Jeff Duncan, of all people, who never even trashed Thomas in articles nor tweets

I know nothing at all about this guy, but I'm sure "he wasn't that good anyway" or something. I do still find it troubling that we seem to have an easier time losing guys than bringing guys in. Little by little the culture that we were trying to preserve with the guys that are in the building whittles away.
Wait, wut? You've been bludgeoning us with posts about wanting to ditch our current culture, but it troubles you that some of the culture leaves? And he's someone that you're sure "wasn't that good anyway." Anything to find fault with everything it seems.

He didn't. I was making a joke/being sarcastic. My fault for not making it clearer.

I apologize for my sarcasm or that it didn't come across as such. I thought the quotes would indicate that I was quoting part of general narrative that when someone leaves they weren't that good anyway. That was my error.

Yes, I do believe we should be changing the culture, but the front office is insisting on maintaining something that people are choosing to leave regardless. How many people are actually left of the culture they wanted to keep 2 years ago. It seems the only one they are really keeping is DA and Loomis while many others are either being fired or jumping ship to other opportunities.

All good, I should have made it clearer. I was kind of making a joke off of MT saying that they would use Duncan to trash him on his way out and here Duncan was praising a guy that was on his way out.

Congratulations to the guy. I always like to see Saints guys get opportunities and promotions even if it's with another team. I take it as a sign of a healthy organization.

I hope he throws a Rager to celebrate.
