IMO, the Saints have had more of an impact on the state and the region than LSU.
For everything that LSU has done, their success is still regional.
Outside of LSU’s base, you really won’t see anyone that would recognize Orgeron or Les Miles.
And one of the LSU championship QBs in Jamarcus Russell is only known as a draft bust.

The Saints are a national brand. Payton and Brees are going to the Hall and are forever associated with the franchise.
And I know LSU only fans don’t wanna hear this, but that one Super Bowl means more than the three nattys.

Definitely harder to win a Super Bowl than a national championship. The gap has closed these days but back in the day some college teams had all the top players and were absolute juggernauts. Hence the occasional 70-10 scores. NFL teams needs the right players, culture, chemistry, coaching and some luck. Oh and the refs lol

That's only true if you only count football or athletics. LSU is obviously much more than a football team.

And I think you underestimate how much of a national brand LSU is even in athletics. A recent National Championship and two recent Heisman Trophy winners tends to put you on the national map. And thats without counting how popular Angel Reese and Livy Dunn are on social media.

Not a weekend goes by without much of my family in Louisiana watching both LSU and the Saints' games on a typical football weekend. I'll say however, when you move out of La., people assume you attended LSU. I didn't; I went to Nicholls, who gave LSU all they could handle last season ;)

The highest rated LSU game only got about 8 million people watching.
The average Saints game got 15 million.

And I’m not saying LSU isn’t a brand, it is.
But nationally, the Saints are a bigger brand.

I love LSU and I love the Saints....but I love the Saints more. College ball is just a step up above from HS and kinda annoys me with all the music of the bands etc. but that's the aesthetic of College ball...I love both and all Louisiana teams in football

Sure. I mean there are so many fewer NFL teams than college teams. I'm just saying LSU is for than football and it's more than athletics. So, it's really a nearly impossible comparison to make unless you just want to talk about football team vs. football team which sure, the Saints are a bigger national brand. Although obviously all SEC schools get a huge amount of national TV exposure even with many games being in prime time.

Which has done more for the state and region really depends on how you look at it since LSU itself reaches far beyond football.

I had to put Saints Only. While I guess my fandom of LSU is admiration, i don't really care if they suck and when they are good, good for them. I'll pull for them, but if they don't win, oh well. Saints lose, my day is ruined and probably the next couple of days.

Even with everything LSU has done, XLIV has had more of an impact because
1. It’s the most coveted championship in the country’s most popular league.
2. The Saints are still reaping the benefits of it. With each player/coach from that team that gets into the Hall. Including they still selling merchandise from that championship season.
3. NFL is more national while CFB is more regional.
4. With that championship, NOLA is only one of a handful of cities that can claim to own a Super Bowl.

LSU has like 15 national championships in the last 25 years...(i have no idea the real numbers) let's not pretend LSU isn't one of the Biggest brands in all of Sports. LSU is a Monolith. Some schools are known for one sport. LSU is known.

I’m not saying LSU isn’t a brand. They are.
But college sports is more regional while the NFL is national.
And it shows. Like I said earlier, the highest rated LSU game (vs USC) only got about 8 million while the Saints averaged 15 million per game.

I mean probably half of the doctors in the State went to LSU. Half or more of the engineers went to LSU, etc. It's the biggest employer in the second biggest city in the state. Not sure how you measure that impact but it's pretty clearly bigger than a Super Bowl win.

So, sure the Saints are a bigger impact than LSU Football, but not LSU.
