A locker room doesn’t need to figure out the Pythagorean theorem.Peterman and Haener scored very will in intelligence coming out of college. Peterman’s wonderlick was 32. Haener was second overall…the scoring system changed.
Carr was average…he scored 20 on the wonderlick.
I agree that we’re in trouble if Peterman is ever starting games for us, but he could improve the discussion level in the QB room and on the sideline and help make the team better that way. Also, cheap which we need to save money for any type of o-line help.
This. Haener is the #2He's a backup QB not a starting QB and we need another arm for camp.
Yea I’m not thinking this guy will generate as much convo as JW did here on Saintsreport. He's a backup QB not a starting QB and we need another arm for camp.

Haener himself sees similarities between himself and Purdy. So I’m sure the new staff are fairly confident in Haeners abilities. It’s two completely different strategies. Signing Flacco says Haener isn’t ready, signing Peterman says he is.
Probably inconsequential, but there’s a clear difference in roster building plans based on signing one or the other.
Intelligence is needed to help break down film and scheme in the QB room though. That seems to be the reason why Peterman keeps getting signed by teams across a 8 year career. Haener was drafted in 2023 with the intent to develop him into QB2 in 2024 and that day is here now.A locker room doesn’t need to figure out the Pythagorean theorem.
Not disagreeing with you, but it's inconsistent with the Saints making a push for Flacco. If we really believed in Haener as our #2, then I don't think we were bringing in Flacco to be #3.Intelligence is needed to help break down film and scheme in the QB room though. Very possible that Carr, Haener and Hill are our QB depth chart when the season comes. They’re all we need to carry.
I don’t know how serious the Flacco talks were. It’s possible that interest fell apart over salary based on how we viewed him. He’s 39 and last season seems like an anomaly compared to his recent seasons as backup. Whoever signs him will overpay for that big 2023 stretch run more than what’s needed from him as a backup QB going forward. Not disagreeing with you, but it's inconsistent with the Saints making a push for Flacco. What I don't get is that "camp arms" are guys you sign right before, well, camp. Undrafted FAs or guys like Peterman who can run scout team or just take some reps to give the other guys a break - they get signed in July or early August. He's a backup QB not a starting QB and we need another arm for camp.
Maybe it was to get Flacco's cell phone number to put it on speed dial in case Carr goes down? .... But seriously, I think it's Flaco's range of experiences that made him interesting to the Saints. I won't be shocked if Petermen doesn't get cut during the preseason but that we're bringing him as a camp arm with knowledge about our system to be able to call in case Carr, Haener and Hill all go down, in which case we're screwed anyway. Not disagreeing with you, but it's inconsistent with the Saints making a push for Flacco.
