Saints signed QB Nathan Peterman (4 Viewers)

The Carr hate is ridiculous. Many of the good/great QBs had that QB2 who was their guy and Carr and Peterman had 2 good seasons together with the Raiders. This signing makes a ton of sense.

Doesn't matter what fans don't like it. A backup QB isn't for the fans.
The Raiders were carrying three QB’s those years (they also had Mariota), Peterman was QB3.

No, but good Lord. We could have done better than that even at league minimum. Peterman is truly awful. It's like we didn't even want someone to even come close to competing with Haener, let alone Carr. Peterman is horrid. It's competition in name only. Not actual competition. That's what disgusts me about the move.
They could’ve done better by signing Kyle Allen for the same price. He’s 28 and made vet minimum last year. He filled in nicely when he started games in Carolina and Washington.

Haener should be at the level of a Kyle Allen though as a former 4th rounder. They invested a 4th, two picks overall, in him and feel comfortable in moving forward with him behind Carr. He showed that he can adequately lead the offense during rookie TC/preseason and continuing to get better. He has good passing traits in release and accuracy that Kubiak and Janocko should feel good about further developing. He’s been the plan for 2024 QB2 since he was drafted last year.

Peterman signing is scheme install related than to bring excitement about a clipholder while we already have our guy to be backup QB since last April. I don’t think its meant to be happy or disappointed for as a fan.

See post #128 of this thread. I’m going to @Merl so he can hit me with the dead falcon for speaking with sense. Going to add @DSnfla so I can get a clown Goodell emoji as well. Just waiting to add a 3rd BNG sunshine pumper for the trifecta.

If Sean Mannion hadn’t retired early to coach for the Packers, I firmly believe he would be the guy. It is about a “player/coach” who already knows Kubiak’s system. Don’t read too much into it. Peterman will never take a regular season snap unless Haener and Taysom go down in the same game, too. If they were looking for real (or closer to it) competition for Haener it would have been Kellen Mond. I think they feel Peterman is a better QB room/sidelines guy and will probably end up coaching. It’s about money, too. Taysom is the actual No. 3 if needed, and we’d find a better vet in a hurry should thst somehow happen.

Dude. I totally get it if the starting QB gets injured ANY team would be lucky to continue winning. Backup QB is a hot commodity in todays NFL. DUDE!

The point is Peterman was not a good pick; unless it is truly just to push Haener as cheaply as we can. If that was the choice, Bravo to the brain trust of saints FO.

Dude.
That is EXACTLY what it is. Peterman most likely will not make the 53

JTO thought he could be a starter, maybe he was consulted on this signing:

LOL Rouxble , the same people that will say " Aww what does JT O'Sullivan know " are the same people that quoted him when he gave DC a bad review

How they go from Flacco to Peterman?

You don't bring a dead cat in the house because he's stinking up the street.

Peterman was also a Vikings back-up behind Kirk Cousins in 2021, the season Kubiak was Minnesota’s OC and Janocko was QB coach… this is all and only about the fact Janocko and Kubiak know him and like his knowledge of that system. He also had a great Wonderlic score. This is about Petwrman’s solid knowledge and not the fact that come gametime, he’s a horrible player. It’s not unusual a bad player becomes a great coach … worked for CSP
YUCK! Oh man did I type that out loud. Sorry guys.
